IIRC he's the four armed guy right?
He was very clever and all and came back stupid and beserk.
I don't have Faiths and Pantheons so I work by memory.
But I do. First sourcebook I ever got.
Also, from his photos and all, I've counted about 6 arms.

Hehe, indeed he is. He looks kinda freaky on the picture in Faiths & Pantheons IIRC (don't have the book here with me).

According to Faiths & Pantheons Earthmother (or Jannath the Earthmother to be exact) was one of early aspects of Chauntea that she abandoned some time ago but people of Moonshae Isles continue to worship that aspect of her and she still grant them spells.Earthmother - Moonshae Isles (Killed by Bhaal)
Actually, it was Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul that were killed, and Cyric alone took over for them. Bane was The Black Lord, and his portfolio was strife, hatred, and tyranny. Bhaal was the Lord of Murder, and his portfolio was death. Myrkul was the Lord of Bones, and his portfolio was the dead, decay, corruption, and dusk.
Our buddy Cyric is The Dark Sun, and his portfolio is death, murder, the dead, strife, tyranny, and lies.
Hmmm...I didn't knew that Bane was dead. He seems to have worshipers still, in IWD2 for example.

So Finder is god for what exactly? Plus can anybody give a list of how many Gods there are total in FR?

Sure. I remember reading Finders Bane or a book with a similar name like 7 to 8 years ago. So who is Finder?

According to Faiths & Pantheons not counting dead deities there is 144 gods active in Faerun.
Breakdown by power:

Intermediate deities: 43
Lesser deities: 42
Demigods: 26
Breakdown by Pantheon:
Faerunian: 57
Mulhorandi: 10
Dwarven: 14
Elven: 12
Drow: 6
Gnome: 8
Halfling: 6
Orc: 6
Monster: 25
To find out who is Finder Wywernspur you need to reed Azure Bonds novel. He is also known as Nameless Bard. Short story is that he was a bard (and Harper) who wanted to preserve his balads in the same form he created them (customarily each bard made some slight change in balad he learn), so he experimented with artificial means of preserving his songs (Finder's Stone is one example). After one experiment killed one and seriously injured another of his apprentice Harper's decided to punish him for his vanity: His songs, His name and His existance will be erased from everybody's memory and he will be entraped in a castle located on Positive energy plane (which actualy granted him immortality) so he can reflect on his sins.

And how does the worship of demon princes, like Graz'zt, fit in? Evil clerics become thralls and keep their spells while technically not serving any god. Is it again the portfolio worship?

Me and my friendly assassin killed him a couple weeks ago.
LOL, well mail WotC and they probably publish a 3.51 edition to fix this

Finder
CM, Finder is pretty much the god of creative, amature bards... and decay? As of the end of the Finder's Stone Trilogy, he had exactly 2 priests, and 1 temple. The only reason he's a god is because he killed Moander and absorbed his power... The power of decay and general ooziness
He doesn't like those powers, so he's trying to find his niche without stepping on the toes of Deneir, Oghma, and Tymora. He's up to a rough start...
As far as a count of gods, all I can say is that in addition to the human gods, the elves have a pantheon, the dwarves do, the orcs do, etc... Don't try counting. Even the Kobolds have a pantheon...
Ao is the ruler of all gods; most pantheons have their own rulers (under Ao, of course). Ao appointed nine (I think) gods to govern the Balance and forced them all to study the Tablets of Fate before bedtime every night. Then he told them to memorize their duties and broke the Tablets.
FR theology is confusing, just pay attention to the gods you need and you'll be better off...
