Good and Evil

Post by Kraftwerk »

Is it just me or does choosing to be Good or evil create hardly any change in the game play of Icewind Dale 1 & 2. In BG 1 & 2 it seems to make a big difference.

I am Curious, am I missing something?

Thanx :D

I went through IWD2 with an evil party thinking that it would be a change. But I agree w/ you- it didn't seem to make much difference. It certainly makes a difference with spell selection for clerics and how certain spells affect you but very little in terms of role play. You might get more options to say mean things but in general those options didn't seem to have any particular repurcussions.

From a role-play perspective though it did open up some options that wouldn't fit w/ a good party. For example, at the Monastary my party had no problems being friendly, doing the 8 trials and then double-crossing them and killing them all!

As far as what happens in the game, the alignment of your characters almost doesn't matter. The big difference is in what weapons and armors your characters can use. The other big difference is the spell 'blasphemy' doesn't work against your evil characters.

Apart from that, the only reason to choose an alignment in ID2 is to gain access to certain classes.

That's what I found. It's too bad, I like getting good or evil specific quest. Plus at the end of Icewind dale 2, it would have been nice to take over as overlord or something? Anyways, life goes on.
