Shadowkeeper and proficiencies.

Post by bootlegcorndogs »

Basically, I wasn't paying attention during character creation/the first dungeon and put a point into a very stupid place. Rather than start over and replay Irenicus' mind-numbing dungeon again, I was thinking of just downloading Shadowkeeper and using it to move the point to someplace more appropriate. Any known bugs associated with this procedure, or is it as safe as one would guess it would be? Ordinarily I wouldn't bother asking, but I have incredibly bad luck with this game and massive catastrophic bugs, so I thought I'd ask before my computer bursts into flames or my whole party spontaneously combusts.

I've never had any problems with shadowkeeper and I've used it for exactly the same thing you are considering...Although I always make sure to be exact and not give my char more points than he would have had if i'd picked it correctly during creation.

only problem with doing that i've found is if you go over the number of prof. you should have at your level and when you then level up and can't click accept or get it to... so as long as you monitor what you're doing and keep it equal you should be fine

With the last character I played (LE Kensai), I decided to go all out with him, so I went over his starting proficiencies. This way I could dual wield blackrazor and celestial fury. I never had any problems with gaining new prof. points. I received them at the normal levels. Only tricky thing I found was hacked items. Boots didn't work and charged items (celestial fury, ring of gaxx, etc.) had no charges.

Thanks, that's just what I needed to know. No fear of me going over the correct number of points, all I want to do is move one around. Heh, I can't imagine what I was thinking when I allocated this point the first time...shows how bored I am with the first dungeon if I don't even look at the screen anymore while I click things. I think I was reading a book at the time. (grin)

For the hacked items if they don't work then unequip them and re-equip them. At least, that always worked for me.

I have found that some items are not functional, and cannot be un-equipped. I had this problem when experimenting with the robe of the good archmagi. I suspect there are others. I tried removing via shadowkeeper, and then adding it again, but it still did not work.
