Boots of Speed

Post by Obike Fixx »

Hey

I was wondering whether The Boots of Speed influence any other variable tahn simple movement speed - such as attack speed.
The easy answer would be no, seeing as it only reads "Enhances movement speed" or some such in the description. Yet my character hits multiple times faster than regularly.
Is this just in animation or does he actually strike more rapidly?

BoS don't increase the attack number, they have a haste effect, but no imp haste effect. Items that affect movement modification (e.g. Arbane) may override their effect.

To find out yourself: Unequip boots and check attack # in character screen, equip boots and check attack # in character screen. ;)

I think wearing the Boots of Speed actually screws up the improved attack speed of the haste spell. There is a Baldurdash fix for this and I think it may have been fixed in one of the patches.

Since we're talking about boots of speed, I have to confess that I usually spawn 6 pairs of BOS and put them on my party members. I hate waiting for people to walk from room to room (esp. in Chap 1) so I just make everyone move double-time. I don't think it effects the attack #.

Well, as I wear them the symbol of haste appears in my portrait window. Therfor I assume they apply ALL the additional abilities of the haste spell - not just the movement speed.

Nope. Those icons can be misleading. For instance, the same icon is used for Protection from Fire and for Resist Cold/Fire even though they have different effects. Also various flavors of Charm protection will use the same icon, even though some might still leave you vulnerable to higher level spells such as domination. The icon will only tell you the general category of the effect, not all of the particulars.
