One can become a god by taking over a domain.
Also, Eo van bestow godhood over mortals and give them certain powers, mostly demi gods if I recall correctly.

Other ways it just to be creative.
A red wyvern called Tchazzar took on human form and ruled an empire and showed off formidable powers in battle. After many, many yours he staged his own dissapearance as he rode off, never to be seen again. A cult arose in his honour too worship him which gave him god-like powers.

How to kill a god?
Really simple, all you have to do is kill all, and I mean ALL of his worshipers. Other than that simple way, only gods can kill other gods. Times of Trouble does not count because Ao made all gods mortal.

Hope he doesn't have Alter Reality
Hope he doesn't have Life & Death (or whatever that one is called)
Hope he doesn't have Rejuvenation.

Granted, there's probably some god in D&DG or F&P that doesn't have one of these three, but since gods all have a godly (heh) high int, in reality they all will have all three (if they can meet the prereqs), which makes gods pretty much as unkillable as you can get while still having stats.

The only way to do it is to catch them by surprise (however you manage to do that), and kill them with a high-caster level Chaos Hammer/Holy Word/any of those "kill opposite alignment with no save" spells.

Your base should be somewhere the god won't notice you or your plans. In Planescape, this would be right beneath the Spire, where even Divine Powers are negated. I don't know of any useful places in other settings.

To get a high caster level, just stock up on Orange Ioun Stones. Then, when your caster level is equal to or higher than 10+the god's HD, teleport/Plane Shift to their pad, fire spell and BAM! You've killed Pelor! ;) (assuming you do this all before Pelor gets to act.)

Except that that doesn't work because deties are unaffected by AMF, which means they walk around in it all day which means they ignore your foul mouth.

Back to the drawing board, I guess...:/

Too bad the gods got 60 HD then :p
The god with lowest int must be Thor.... He "only" got 20 or something.. His strength however is the highest I have ever seen. 92 (His AB is +107) :D

Getting your caster level to 70 isn't really a challenge. It just requires lots of gold.

So there isn't a maximum of Ioun stones you can have flying around you at once?

Nope.... It is strange though, when a person can have 100 Ioun stones flying around him. :p

The Orange ones do, since they give you a nameless bonus to caster level. Nameless bonusses always stack.

In a discussion about killing GODS, I'm willing to overlook that little thing :P

Heh yeah.... IIRC the stones got hp and AC don't they? And if you have to kill all followers they can probably destroy them... That means you need more money again :p

Gheh, the overall thought is this:
1. You can't unless you are already a god
2. ALL... like a couple of millions at least
3. This is a joke, don't take it serious. :D

All in all, forget about killing gods. :p

It wasn't, actually. It's probably the only way of killing gods.

I bet you need about two million red wizards to even be able to boost your caster level high enough to attack a god :p

Understandable, but it's not very 'realistic' now is it? :D

Lesser gods don't have millions of followers indead, sithari. Still, it's hardly worth the try. :D
