Patch 1.4 is comming up!
I just have read that there is going to be patch 1.4. (Sigh) 'Till then - perhaps we shall expect DL2 in a few months??? (2-3 weeks for a patch) DL could have been a really good game...
Lets hope. . .
Lets hope its a good patch, v.1.3 wasent too bad, auto-map was nice after all. . .

Dungeon Lords would attain "game of the year" type status, had it been released in a finished version. Sigh. Well hopefully the company has learnt through its own mistakes and will not do something like this again.
I think that there has to be a reason behind this. Maybe they have existed their budget, were not able to invest more to improve the game and had to release what they had?
I hope that 1.4 patch will at least fix repair and all the skills, which do not work at the moment, as well as honour. Doing something about the awful collisions, monsters getting stuck, walking in the air, etc. would be nice as well but I imagine that this would require lots of work and isn't very likely to happen. And well, I guess that many people wouldn't welcome improvements there anyway, since xp hunts from fire drakes would be severely limited.

Don't forget about Oblivion its gonna be the best rpg ever made . Personally I haven't downloaded the 1.3 patch because, well, I already beat the game and it was a pushover. Shugerath at the end was the easiest boss i have ever played against. I'm playing Arx Fatalis right now and to be honest its pretty good. If you havent heard of this game u should look into it. I got mine in the used section at Electronic Boutique and it still cost me 39.99 (same as DL brand new....) but it was really, really worth it. The first boss i fought against was harder than Shugerath. That really put things into perspective for me. Anyways maybe if the next patch (1.4) makes things alittle difficult than i may retry it.

Dont even talk dl2
version 1.3 patch was nearly worthless, and version 1.4 or 5 or 6 wont be much different. Programmers obviously dont care what they are doing and company just wanted sales, not a real game release. NO WAY would I ever consider buying dl2. For that matter, I would never buy ANY other dreamcatcher game.

Since DL took supposedly 4 years to develop, I don't think a few months' estimate for a DL2 is exactly reasonable. Not to mention that there has been a higher return rate on this game than few others in the last couple of years. I think the question is going to be who wants to finance yet another DW Bradley sales dog, since he apparently can't turn around product within the parameters he's set for his last pair of products.

I'm prolly one of the few that actually consider the game "worth while" so I'll voice my opinion.
Though DL had many bugs, wasn't one of your average KoTOR, Elder Scrolls, or 'popular' games, there is no reason to Dis the game so much. I respect that all have there opinions of the game, and while "I didn't like the game because of the bugs and errors, the rushed quality, and the fact that it wasn't finished when it was released," is fine and OK, completly dissing the game as you think it's the most horrible game to exist andit should be burned, is still ok, but dudes, keep it to yourselves.
Though I am not a Mod or an Administrator except to my forum, it irritates me to hear "version 1.3 patch was nearly worthless" as it A.) wasn't worthless as it added some minor features and the MOST requested feature (At least I think, so correct me if I am wrong), the automap, and B.) is rather rude to the creators of the game. I am sure that when the creators go to forums and sites with reviews, they accept the game had issues, but don't want to hear the game is crap.
All this said, and as I said, I am not a mod/admin, but really, shut up about how bad the game was. We get it and don't need to hear it over and over again.
A good percentage of the people even just here have bought the game and experienced the features to the game. They already know that there were problems. I for one really don't appreciate the general flaming of the game. Constructive criticism, OK. Flaming, not cool.
Once again, not being a mod or an administrator here, I can only request this. I cannot demand that you all quit flaming the game, because that is a mods turf. I only ask that you just keep the flaming down as a lot people here don't appreciate flaming of the game.
Now, as for 1.4. I am really hoping that they finish Rune Magic if it hasn't been finished. If this is official, then I will wait to re-install the game till then. I like the idea that Dreamcatcher is determined to make this game good and worth buying. I never really care about how the game is played out. Sure KoTOR 2 and Elder Scrolls were just amazing, but good classic games or soon to be classic games like KoTOR 1, Diablo 1 and 2, Neverwinter Nights, and other games will have DL soon to be in the list. I like the game and it's simplicity. It was easy to understand and the system for character creation was pretty decent and will be even better when the facial/physical features are added.
I also like the puzzles they had there like the levers and the platforms in the Naga Temple and the Trial of Elders. The trapping/locking system for chests are awesome too.
(PS: If the mods don't appreciate what I said above, edit it as much as you please. Just stating an opinion.)

I love the game as it is, and am pretty confident there will be patches untill the game is bug-free and completely finished. And i don't think flaming the game will motivate the creaters to make it better.
And patch 1.3 wasn't wortless at all because the automap really really helps a lot. Now lets hope 1.4 is at least as good as 1.3 and fixes some bugs and maybe more... but again, very fun game to play as it is.

Ok, let´s start over again, hehehe...
Only to put this thread back to the top, where it have to stay until the patch is released!
Meanwhile i have heared so many rumours, that i believe, it is time to ask about some facts. Who tried to get facts about what will be fixed with V1.4 patch?
Got any answer from officials, whatever?
If I could do magic, i would cast the great patch 1.4 spell, first
abracadabra....damn, seems it doesn´t work!

my opinion
well heres my opinion: i like DL alot. true. DreamCatcher should of waited a few months till they had the game at least working as well as the 1.3 update patch makes it. from what i heard they had rushed the release out to try and make compitition for another game that was to be released by another company. i dont recall its name. and as its already been said, hopefully dreamcather will learn from this. i had a problem with one of their other games a while back. i had got the nautilus game. it kept freezing up and locking up. i couldnt get anywhere. i contacted the support team at DC and they sent me another game of my choice. i chose the sherlock holmes mystery of the mummy game. so i know first hand, that DC tries really hard to make ammends for any mistakes or errors with their games. and i highly commend them in that regard. they may have put the cart in front of the horse a bit here releasing dL a bit earlier than they should have, but they will get it fixed. and as said before, if they had of just held off on the release, this game could of well been a game of the year or other higher honors given.
in my opinion, this is a very enjoyable game with the promise of it being a really great game once all the bugs and errors are fixed.
these are my views and do not reflect in any way the opinions of others and are mine and mine alone. if others share in this view, then thats great. if not, well, you shouldnt have bought the game.

Siberys,
Yours was a very good & thought out post. I commend you on it.
Like so many others here, I have seen the problems with DL & while they "were" horrible, I the 1.3 patch went a long ways to fixing alot of those problems. I have also read alot of people bad mouthing the programmers & what-not about how they don't care & blah..blah..blah..
Funny thing that, if they didn't care, they would not have released the 1.3 patch. Also from what I have read that a DL2 is in the makings. Well again if they didn't care they would not be making a DL2. The programmers/publishers/developers are also well aware that if people arn't happy, they will not buy their next game. So in light of that they are making fixes. They can't make one patch that fixes all. Life does not sadly work that way.
All great games have bugs. Some worse than others. Point is, for the most part they get fixed.
Bottom line, have Patience.
Perhaps i'm so passive because I got this game for free & after the 1.3 patch was released & so I didn't have the earlier bugs to deal with & thus don't feel cheated out of my hard earned cash. But then again, I do have over 350 games for the PC and most of then started out shaky, but in the end they were fixed.
I like DL & am having a good time playing it.

Patch 1.4, and game recommendations?
Yes, patch 1.4 is coming, don't know when though. I had emailed and asked about character customization - very shallow of me, I know - and the reply was that it will be available with the 1.4 patch... But it makes you wonder what *else* will be in the patch - what are some things you'd like to see?
And I will be buying DL2, although probably not right after it's released. I'll give them some time to work out the initial batch of issues (because there are ALWAYS issues, with ANY game).
In the meantime, anyone want to suggest some other games to keep me occupied once I finish this one? I'm not a "hardcore" gamer - it's total escapism - but I do like to have something or other in the works... Some games I've enjoyed are: the Diablos, Dungeon Siege, Baldur's/Icewind/Neverwinter. I still haven't managed to get through Morrowind, it just got to be too tedious and my patience ran out. Guess it was just too massive for my limited attention span. But I haven't gotten into online games, even though quite a few look very cool - my gaming time is in short bits with long gaps between, and I can't see paying for the game, then paying a subscription fee once the free time runs out.

Sacred Looked pretty interesting. I considered trying it out if it wasnt a monthly payment thing. And, I will probably buy DL2 aswell... a year or so after its released. And I also agree most games are not as good when they are released as opposed to a year after their release. EQ wasnt as fun untill Luclin IMO. Although I could have been found walking around Kunark with my PoTime, OoW, GoD gear. I liked going back to the old days and just remember making my first 100plat in the Tunnels. Heh I spent about 5-6 years of my life on that game. When they began to mold it like EQ2, i took it as a slap in the face and quit.
I do hope they put in a char customization though, I miss my beard! (on any human I make, he usually has a beard hehe)

You stare upon the perch,
The sight forces your somach's lurch.
The sight you see,
Is Death glaring back at thee.
You gave it a hum,
You let it run,
Now all you see,
Is the mirror that bleeds.
