a question about bard, monk, and sorcerer

Post by Coconut_Crab »

Can a human bard, monk, or sorcerer dual to another class?

Unfortunately, no. Neither can a Barbarian. I think Stalkers and Archers also have some limitations. (I'm surprised that Kensais and Wizard Slayers don't have limitations.)

I think the game is just following 2nd Edition rules. There's much more flexibility in 3rd Edition rules (which are implemented in Icewind Dale II), but on the other hand, it is much more difficult to decide which class to play. :)

You can only dual-class the same classes that you can multi-class. Read your manual or some website if you're interested in what's available.

I thought the list of dual class possibilities depended highly on stats. A wannabe fighter would probably need around 17 strength.

I think there is a mod that allows barbarians to dual class into druids, but I can't remember its name.

@Raven_Song

If you're a fighter, you can dual to a druid, and vice-versa.

@Ravager

To dual you need at least a 15 in the primary attribute in the class you are dualing out of and at least a 17 in the attribute you are dualing in to.

No I was thinking of the G3 Tweak Pack, which specifically mentions barbarians and wild mages, this is the blurb taken from the mod description

Expanded Dual-Class Options
This component will allow Barbarians and Wild Mages to dual-class to other classes. Barbarians will have the same dual-class options (cleric, druid, mage, and thief) with the same requirement (15 strength) as fighters. Wild Mages will have the same dual-class options (cleric, fighter, and thief) with the same requirement (15 intelligence) as regular mages.

@Raven

I totally misread your previoius post. I thought you wrote fighter to druid, not barbarian to druid. I have no idea what happened, and I wasn't trying to be annoying- mea culpa! :D

I think you would also agree that dualing those particular classes may be a bit overpowering.

I agree that dualling a Monk or a Sorcerer might be a bit overpowering... but the Barbarian isn't really an overpowered class. It is even an underpowered one... since it can't gain access to Grand Mastery... and doesn't have alot more than a Berserker..
