You're decieving yourself. Do you feel better having an awesome sword that can kill things? Does it make you feel powerful in some way, or more secure? Look at me, I'm awesome because I have a sword named after me!
Ok, that's harsh, abut you seem to get my point, right? I guess I have to say, play the game your own way, and for those of you who lost the meaning of my story, or who got it and didn't care, continue to cheat, but know that it is a lot more fun if you can't kill everything in sight so easily.
Some guy that created Baldur's Gate 2 had a vision, he put this vision on the line and created a game. It probably took this person a few months to lay down this vision, he put everything where it should be, created objects for specific purposes, everything was how he, the Creator, wanted it to be. Then the people that he created the game for slapped him in the face, said I want things my way, and ruined his vision and altered the Game.

Yes, but there's also replay value. People have played the game as the creator intended, and now they want to try to play their own way, what's wrong with that? The point of buying a game is to have fun after all! Image

Maybe it's just the programmer in me. I love when I find good customization tools and I can fool around with my own classes/items/spells...

How am I deceiving my self. By cheating in a game. A game. Yes someone had an idea and made it in to a game.A game. IMHO some of you take it to far. So when he/she had a idea of a game you think some where down the line his/her idea did not change any. Before you say I'm deceiving my self check out my sword in Rons' thread. Now your pal (Kyrian please stay away for my tricycle Darkstar )is just a plain fool. As for you(EternalKnight) I still value your opinion , I might not agree with it.

What if the creators intention was to let people have fun playing the game? If cheating allows them to do that then more power to em.

LONG LIVE CHEATERS!

Three things.

One:
In response to Eternal's commment about a powerful sword that kills stuff easily, I already had one before the custom sword. It was called a LONG SWORD +1! It don't matter whats in my PC's hands, somethings gonna die if it attacks me.

Two:
I think Eternal thought his part of the argument out very well (Good job). Even though I don't agree to all of it, he makes valid points. In the end though, it's up to the gamer to decide, and by you saying that, it is trying to say no, you can't do that. Why? Because it wasn't original programing? Which leads to....

Three:
If it isn't original programing, why was the editor preoduced? How come all those weapon skins, and stats existing? Because those things are hard-coded into the game. All weve done is taken that programing, tweaked it a bit, a said here, some interesting new item is thrown into the mix!

This editor is really just about making BGII New and interesting, adding replayability to it. If thats wrong, it is on a scale so small, not even the makers care. If they did, everything would be wrong almost! People would actually get in trouble for owning emulators! (Amen they don't, I got about 4 of them with over 100 roms). Your exagerating the facts. Sure it may be wrong, but only to an extent. So far, the only stuff I've seen made have been relatively balanced to the rest of the game.

In closing, it's good you know what your talking about, it's just.... You sound to much like a parent. We're just trying to have fun with this game, and by people saying we can't add to it, well, that takes some fun away. Think about...

WOW....you'd think this was a political forum or something. I haven't heard this much bickering since the US presidential election...

My friends, this is a GAME. It is designed for you to ENJOY. Do whatever you want with it to further that end. Ron is offering a service that he is not forcing on any of you. Some will use it, some will not; everyone has a choice.

I see no reason for anyone to use personal insults against anyone else because they aired an opinion that was not agreed with. We are all here to have FUN.

Heh heh. I'm a bit late but I've got a valid contribution to this debate.

Kirian - bite me! Image

What's wrong with a little fooling around once the game is done. Its not like we did this before we even tried to get out of Irenicus dungeon. Jealous that Ron thought of it first?? Image

Hmm...

Weasel, I apologize. I admit, I came on harsh to get a point across, but from the replies I have gotten from you (not so bad) and others (some worse), obviously people are irritated. However I would have put it, there would have been people who were irritated and disagreed with me, that happens when you're defending something.

Look everyone, I'm trying to lay this to rest. My opinion is that it ruins gameplay. The game is not challenging when you create weapons that take no skill or strategy to use because of their power.

I'm sorry that you all were so offended, and notice that for the most part, I haven't retaliated at any that resorted to mud-slinging and infantile comments.

Lets put it to rest people, we disagree, and I was harsh at the beginning which I earlier admitted I did on purpose to get a good response.

So anyway, play on however you want, and don't mind me....

(A special apology to weasel sincehe seems to be my worst enemy. I was serious about playing Neverwinter, too bad you live so far south)

I don't share your opinion, but I'll go as far as to say that you have a right to your opinion. Just don't slam me for my gameplaying style!

And the 'Creator' of this game left CLUAConsole in the code also! WHY?
Besides, Bioware is not the Pantheon of CRPG
gods! I paid my money for the game, it wasn't given to me as if it was some precious gem of enlightenment, sacrosanct and inviolate. It's just a friggen' GAME!!!
