Check the stickies at the top of the first ToB forum page for mod resources: the Reference Crossroads. Good links, there.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Here's some practical advice that I've never seen from anyone else. When I download a lot of different programs, I like to keep them organized. For example, the last time I downloaded a bunch of mods, I created a directory on my hard drive called "BG2 Mods". Every time I downloaded a mod, I created a separate subdirectory for it with the appropriate name, e.g. "Saerileth NPC", "Ascension", "Ease-of-Use", etc. I also copied the "Readme" files into their respective directories for future reference. When I had all the mods I wanted, I determined the order in which I should install them, and I put a number in front of their names so I could install them easily without making any mistakes. My "BG2 Mods" directory looks something like this:

00-Shadows of Amn
01-Throne of Bhaal
02-Official TOB Patch
03-Baldurdash Fix Pack
04-Baldurdash Text Update
05-Ease of Use
06-G3 Tweak Pack
07-Item Upgrade
08-Oversight
09-Ascension
etc.

Some of the setup programs can be run from the directory where you downloaded them. Other files must be "unzipped" and copied to your BG2 directory, and then you run the setup program from there. Some files aren't really programs per se; all you have to do is "unzip" them and put them in your BG2 OVERRIDE directory.

No single website has all of the mods I like to use. I had to visit many different websites to find all the mods I was looking for. The Pocket Plane Group maintains an index on their website with links to the places where you can download various mods.

I've created a list with links that is perfect for my own use. It tells me which mods to install, where to get them, and the order in which they should be installed. I originally posted this in another message thread, but it's in the SYM forum instead of this forum, so I'll cut and paste it here. If you search these forums, you'll find lots of suggestions from other people.

Here's what I installed the last time I put BG2:Throne of Bhaal on my computer. First I installed BG2:Shadows of Amn, then I installed Throne of Bhaal. Then I installed the Official TOB Patch. Then I installed the following unofficial mods/patches in the following order:

It's a big list, but I've made all of them easy for you to find. If you have any questions about individual mods, consult the documentation that comes with them. You might need to become familiar with your BG2 directory in order to do that, including the OVERRIDE subdirectory.

Good luck!

I think you need to run the installer INSIDE your BGII folder, so it can find the files that need to be edited.

I suggest the same thing Ravager told you. When you extract the Ascension files from the file you downloaded, you need to copy them to your BG2 directory and run the setup program from there.

I've never played a 40th Level multi-class Fighter/Mage/Thief, so I don't understand the problem you're having with it. How did you create the character and get him to such a high level?
