Hey does anyone know why Obsidian is taking over all of BioWares games?
First they did it with SWOTOR 1 and know Neverwinter nights. Have they taken over any other games?
Or is it just that BioWare have changed there name?
Why is obsidian always taking over BioWare corps. games?

Dang Atari.
Well I don't really care. From what I understand, Black Isle was esentially Jesus as an RPG developer company. If that's true, Obsidian can go ahead and make their games, I really don't care. As long as they dont' disgrace the series, I'm fine. They did however need polish on KotOR II. LucasArts can take their rushed dates and cram them up their... software mainframes.

Yeah, most likely Atari that has something to do with it, but most likely also the good relation between Bioware and Obsidian since they have worked/helped eachother before.
Black Isle was the King of RPG.
Obsidian was founded by former Black Isle people.
But, Obsidian is not the new King of RPG. But I do think they will be able to make a very good NWN 2. Hopefully better than the first.

I'm not surprised at this trend. Lately, I've been seeing sequels from hit titles like Call of Duty or Return to Castle Wolfenstein being developed by another company rather than the original developer itself. Well, they are actually expansion packs but that's the point. One good example of a sequel developed by another company is Call of Duty 3 which is currently being developed by Treyarch Studios (developer of Call of Duty 2's prequel, Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One, for the consoles) instead of Infinity Ward, the original developer.

Lack of innovation? Or perhaps they are just afraid to fail when making an own title? Some people simply need a leading hand. Why else would Oblivion be such a bestseller? Ahh, yes, I forgot...the graphics.Dart_Xerpoth wrote:Hey does anyone know why Obsidian is taking over all of BioWares games?

Its too early to tell at the moment. At some point, they're gonna release it for the PC since all the Call of Duty series have been for the PC. I hope they do. Anyway, back on topic.Kenac wrote:On the topic of CoD3, I think Activision totally screwed up with not allowing a PC version. The first two came out for PC, so why not the third? They better make a darn good Wii version if it's not coming out for PC.
I agree here. It could be that Obsidian wanted to play it safe by creating KOTOR 2 since they were just formed at that time. I wasn't surprised that they did so.Monolith wrote: Lack of innovation?
