Glaicus Spoiler
Ok, in Nalia's Castle, when you're going to Liberate it from the trolls, you run into Glaicus, the leader of the knights or guard or something. I think I once read someone had gotten him to calm down or something, like he was spelled.
Every time I go up against him, I have to kill him. even AFTER I liberate the place.
so, question:
Do I HAVE to kill him or is there a way to NOT kill him?

Yes, but charming him is kind of bugged. You have to, possibly, try it multiple times before you succeed. Usually, the Ring of Human Influence works wonders, though.
Ohh, and there's really no need to keep writing the entire text in black when you already mentioned spoilers in the title. It's a bit annoying actually.

Every time I've come up against Glacias this has annoyed me . How do you get Glacias on your side. I've tried multiple Charm and Domination spells ranging from low to high levels and even when succesful, the computer tells me I cannot talk to someone who is 'mind-controlled'.
The best I can do is disarm him of his weapon before the spell runs out.

I think you had to dominate him and then use a 'dispell magic' spell on him didn't you? As already stated he's actually pretty bugged and not worth all the reloads. I usually just kill him and be done with it, it's not really worth the frustration of all that reloading.
Yes he will give you the flail head if you charm him back.

Well, if you do the proper way, I do believe you receive far more exp, which is great if you go early in the game, however less if you go later.
As for me, I have heard how it is bugged, yet it has always worked for me. I guess I'm just lucky ...

In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

I've tried many many times to charm Glacias. As a matter of fact, I've probably spent more time on that than I did studying to final exams in undergrad. With that said, I've never been able to get it to work- not once. When I try, I always end up with it flashing green for just a sec, followed by him turning red again. I've given up.
(I play on a Mac, so this might have something to do with it)

I've tried various methods of trying to charm him as well. It has never worked for me, no matter what. I end up just killing him
I am pretty sure you need Nalia in your party for it to work (I had her both times, anyway.)
I usually drop a party member temporarily to bring Nalia along (if you don't bring her you don't get the 10 K), and even with her in the party I can't get it to work.
It has to be one of those weird, buggy things. Maybe it even depends on the edition of your game, I don't know.

I may be wrong, but I think what happens is, you first charm him, then after he's green, attack him to break the charm script. Then for a split second he'll turn blue, during that time, pause and talk to him before he becomes red again.
Can anyone confirm this?

Nope, you don't need Nalia.
And I can't remember what I did, but I played on PC and it worked fine.

won't friggin work.
ok, no matter what I do, it won't work. he just keeps coming after me.
He turns green, and stupid me, I forgot to turn AI off. my guys begin firing on him and he goes RIGHT BACK to red. I have Minsc in my party, and let him take the hits until he calms down. but he kills Minsc quick.
WHAT happens exactly if it works right, anyway? What does it do for you?

What happens is when you charm glacius, the spell breaks the dialogue script. So you have to let the script run by attacking him to break the charm spell. It is really only for a split second that he'll turn blue, and you have to pause at the exact time, cancel all your attacks on him, and then talk to him.
As for the spell usage, dominate would be the best choice with the -2 save penalty. It takes several tries to get it right, but hey you get to be a hero and save an innocent life and whatnot.

Did Bioware put Glacias in this game just to annoy everyone?
The XP reward should be huge.
The odd thing amount this in my opinion is the dispel effects line on Glacias after a succesful charming spell. This has to do something, although if I dispel the charm he goes hostile again and in the strategy guide I have nothing is mentioned about attacking him (just split-second timing - talk to him just before the charm takes effect maybe when he gets the dispels effect line).
