I'm really looking forward to this game...
Supreme Commander
Chris Taylor, the game design guru behind Total Annihilation, is returning to the real-time strategy scene with a game so immense that "supreme" might be too delicate a word. The modern RTS, Taylor asserts, has been moving inward: in games like Warcraft III you deal up close with individual units or small squads. Taylor wants to move outward. Real strategy happens before the battle, he claims, when you're managing an economy, evading the enemy, gearing up a massive war machine, finding out about your opponent's armament, and striking hardest where it'll hurt the most. Like Eisenhower in World War II, in Supreme Commander you'll be commanding fleets and armies on the grandest of scales. Although Supreme Commander clearly takes a page from Total Annihilation's book, this is an all-new franchise on a scale that dwarfs any other RTS on the market.
Well, a HUGE army has never been actually made in an RTS game. Also, massive war machine construction has never been tried (to my knowledge). So I'm really really intersted in seeing how will the interface be. But the graphics are amazing.
Your opinion?
New RTS? Supreme Commander? Seems to be awesome.

Oh its a shame you live so far away man. We could have so much fun! Well... maybe. We might end up in jail after we get out of the hospital.
Looks very good, this is definatly what I want out of an RTS. To bad they have to make it sci-fi style.
Imo the larger scale is what made the total war games so good. You could really concentrate on large scale strategy.

While others climb the mountains High, beneath the tree I love to lie
And watch the snails go whizzing by, It's foolish but it's fun

Oh, I'm very excited about both, but I guess they'll be too different and wont allow comparations. I mean, damn, this Supreme Commander game promisses huge armies. Huge maps. Huge consequences. AOE will be the RTS redesigned, and with very good graphics and gameplay for sure, I'm also waiting to play it.

Moving this out of SYM and into Non-RPG Game Discussion.

Well, Rome: TW had some pretty freakin' huge armies, I thought. In the late game, anyway. I still believe it to be one of the best strategy games of all times as well.
