Demo, Previews and Other Info

Post by txa1265 »

Demo

The demo is available at GameSpot and 3DDowlnoads and 3DGamers and 4Players.de and GameGuru Mania and GamersHell and Worthplaying

Demo Info

It should be noted that the 'demo' is more of a 'test demo' as it is basically a repack of the press demo released in January, which was much like the early beta from late last year. German Publisher dtp posted some comments here, basically saying that it was unfortunate that Dreamcatcher released the demo without a lot of commentary regarding how it falls with respect to the state over the game's development, and offered these comments.

Here is the translation:
1. The resolution will be selectable up to 1280x1024 in the final game
2. Many graphical details (such as the water) are not final yet
3. The number of random encounters will be adjustable in three levels: few, normal and many. If you are annoyed by many respawns, choose 'few' in the final game
4. The difficulty level is adjustable as well
5. There will be an intro video in the final game
6. There are 7 races in the final game - with females avatars available for humans and elves
Previews
There have been many, many previews - too many to list individually, but I wanted to summarize all of the various postings of Previews, 'Exclusive Screenshots', 'GamePlay Videos' and Interviews I have been seeing over the past few months.

Well, there is the new DW Bradley Interview
here.

It seemed pretty 'cookie cutter', not really much of anythinng we didn't know, but for all of those concerned by the lack of significant plot elements in the 'tech demo', it is very heartening.

Here are a ton of others ... mostly not very descriptive, as I've pulled them from posts.

Awesome new interview with DreamCatcher publisher Mark Harwood!

Check it out here!

Things I noticed:
- 40 - 50 hours play time not doing all quests. I foresee myself (I'm slow at RPG's, fast at FPS) getting many, many hours out of this!
- "Dungeon Lords is a classic style RPG with a deep story that will take the player through a huge game world. Combine that with the real-time combat system that has different combos based on weapons and the vast customizability of characters, and I think you’ve got something to offer any RPG fan."

RPGVault has eight more 'exclusive' screens,

Wow, nice work! In addition to these sites, you can expect to see additional coverage for Dungeon Lords (and Wizards & Warriors) on GameBanshee in the near future.

Dungeon Lords is going to be released in Germany this month. The German version is said to be bug free and in addition to that the dialogue is totally voiced. :p

I would be hard pressed to believe that it will be bug-free, as it is being released with patch 1.2, which is not supposed to have some of the 'game-breaking' fixes such as appearance customization. We'll see, though ...

The German version was released about two weeks ago and yes, it's everything but bug-free - at least that's what the many reviews say. I just read a review which gave Dungeon Lords 58%. The reviewer mainly critizised the unfinished state of the game - according to bugs and content. A real pity. :(

Once again 40 euros saved...

Apparently the German release was patched 1.2e, and since then there has been patch 1.3, which does a few more things such as automap and junk inventory. Still loads missing.
