Serious Lag ?

Post by virtuallegacy »

Anyone have lag problems in single player mode.

I formatted put in a different hard drive ( 30 gig for windows and game only)
im using a geforce mx 400 64mb graphic card
1 ghz processor
512mb ram
win xp

I turned everything down to minimum in the game.
I have the most recent nvidia drivers.
image settings are set to run for highest performance not quality.

It could run in 8 bit, with stick figures for all i care as long as the game runs smooth
without all the hiccups and lag.

I Dont understand this one, any ideas for a fix.

Thanks

Your computer pretty much describes the minimum system requirements for the game, which is always a bad sign. It could be that your computer simply isn't powerful enough to run the game well.

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

For this hardware there isn't a good idea to use win xp if you plan to play games which need much resourses. Install win98se or win2000. These OS less "RAM-consuming", etc.
Or try to set your win xp for maximal perfomance, but better don't use this OS.

Hey, what´s going on? 512 MB aren´t enough....who said THAT?
I think the processor could get a little bit faster!

official requirements:
100% compatible PC required.
1GHz or better recommended
64 Meg RAM minimum, 128 Meg RAM recommended.
GeForce2 or better 3D card required with 64 Meg RAM.
Mouse, Keyboard and Sound card required
CD rom drive required.
400M HDD space available required

And let U now.... WinMe/Win98se consumes as nearly the same amount of RAM as WinXP, but causes heavier crashes. Win 2000 ??? I think Win 2000 is the badest you ever can do, if you want to play games!

But now to your problem:
To raise your performance you can ONLY set the screensize of the game, other options won´t work - so far!
You can switch shadow on/off...nothing happens...shadows will be rendered!

But if you mean the lags before some opponents arrive, that´s NORMAL, hehehe!
It makes NO SENSE which config you have (I have an 3000+, 512 DDR, 128 MB AGP 8x, 160 Gig HD), this problem will occur on all machines.
I remember another lag:
If you are travelling around the wilderness for a while and come back to Fargrove, sometimes the game slows down to 2-3 FPS! Then you should save and reload the game - to free your RAM.

Hoping that with V1.4, this "RAMeating" has an end!

Mad suxx, i didn't say it's not enough, but it's not enough for good perfomance. I don't take Win ME for OS, it's just software mongrel. Just wanted to say you'll have better perfomance with hardware mentioned above under w2k and w98se.

Naka, imho it's just because of bad code optimisation, which seems to be a global tendecy now...

I run a AMD 4ghz 2 gb ram, nvidia 6800 256ram-only time i encounter lag is when i enter a new forested area but it clears up usually after a few encounters. But i have noticed that the code like the fella mentioned above is the culprit leading to memory sinks.

Well, why bother with optimisation? Not only in games, at all. Let people buy 4MHz CPUs and gigs of RAM. You know, it can take far away from computers...
