Suggestions for adding characters to this four-character party?

Post by Aerich »

Here's the four characters; I just finished the Horde Fortress with them. Ideally, I'd like to add one or two characters for the crash site and the Ice Temple. level them a little, and squat the rest of the way through the Temple. Stats are fairly powergamey and I'm not sure if I want to take them into HoF (which will probably affect the decision of what characters to add).

Deep Gnome Monk[6] - the classic high AC tank, gets into the low 40s with buffs - could add 10 levels of cleric in HoF mode

Human Fighter[1]/Stormlord[7] (evil) - tank #2, combat caster and buffer - using axes, shocking mace

Drow Rogue[3]/Wizard[4] - rogue, archer, multipurpose caster - will add wizard levels the rest of the way, and maybe some fighter levels if going to HoF

Aasimar Paladin[2]/Sorceress[6] - classic spellbomber, decent with a crossbow, not totally vulnerable in melee

My wish list for the remaining two characters includes some of the following in no particular order:
1) good aligned cleric for more healing, buffing, and some offense (Morninglord?)
2) spellcaster specializing in enchantment/charm
3) decent tank to use greatswords
4) druid for call lightning, static charge, barkskin, and other goodies
When your back is against the wall... the other guy is in a whole lotta trouble.

How about a druid/bard multiclass? You'd get

* Offensive elemental magics
* Enchant charm/based magics
* Buffs
* Healing
* Shapeshifting
* Songs

If you plan to keep the levels at a similar level you could go for Aasimar, although ultimately human offers the greater flexibility.

If you want to make use of Shapeshifting definitely install the relevant components of the Weimar Ease of Use Mod

For the first, since you're looking for a druid and healer, and assuming that you won't go into HoF mode, make a human druid. Druids can heal and cast some great offensive spells as well as fight as well as a priest.
If you go into plan on HoF, add 5 bard levels before the druid, then add another 4 or 6 after you have 19 or 21 levels of druid (depending on your mods).
For the second, add another sorcerer for sheer power, or add a fighter(4)/sorcerer(x)/(barb(3)?) for melee and magic power. I would go with a pure sorcerer to give you a better character pre-HoF.

And that gives you everything you want except the greatsword.

I think the above are good suggestions...

I was thinking a moment for how to squeeze in the two handed warrior...Of course I couldn't think how to get the sorceror, the druid, and a PURE warrior but what about a spellsword. Bard and Druid have decent BAB Progression.

What about a Half-Orc Barbarian1 DruidX BardX (in normal)...topping off at Barbarian1 Druid 18 Bard11? (Maybe barb2 for uncanny dodge?)

Alternatively you could just spend a feat in great swords and make it a Druid19/Bard11 but the rage and speed are nice too.

Or a dwarven fighter1 Druid18 Bard11 but then no rage or speed either...

...as all above I would also suggest the druid 21 - bard 9 (or druid 19 - bard 11 without Weimar mod)!

...you can find all details on this build in the powergaming guide as PC 5!

...as 6th PC you could use PC3 as a "good" cleric is never wrong in this game and then build your evil stormlord to level 15 only - and add more fighter level (up to 4), rogue (3) and even wiz levels (up to 5) - as he is human this should work fine!

...but you will have a very divine heavy party afterwards! ;)
