Thinned Blood

Post by SimpleXavs »

Hi! I'm spanish and I have just discover this forum today. I have read the walkthrough but it doesn't resolve my problem in this quest. First of all, I'm sorry because my english is not very good =)
Well, my problem is that when I talk with E this quest doesn't open in my quest log. My character (I'm playing a Toreador, I don't know if that's important) only says she will look for information and the conversation finishes without having a new mission to complete. Anyone knows where is my problem?
Thanks and see you in the forum!

First of all, your English is quite good. Secondly, there should be a quest opened when talking with E. and telling him you'll look into the whole thinned blood thing (pretty much, hitting the 1. dialogue option all the way through your conversation should do the trick).

There are a couple possible reasons it does not appear, assuming you've gone through the correct dialogues with E. (which is pretty easy to do). (1) Most likely, it's a bug you're experiencing. (2) It's possible the quest has been recorded and you're not noticing it. On the quest screen there are four tabs (one for each section of the city). Make sure you have the Santa Monica screen selected. The third possibility would be that you intimidated E. earlier for money. If you've done this, I do not believe you can get the quest. But it doesn't sound like that happened.

Assuming (2) is not the case, your best bet would be to attempt to do the quest without it being recorded. So, go to the diner and see if the woman there knows anything about a pale woman. If the appropriate dialogues do not appear, then you've got other problems. If this is the case, you should probably restart your game (you shouldn't be too far along) to see if happens again. If all else fails, uninstall/reinstall the game (make sure to install the patches)

Good luck.

Did you get E. to tell his story (how he became a thin blood vampire)? That might be the part you missed. In the story there is a hint where to look for further information.

I think it's a bug because I haven't intimidated E. for money (I'm a Toreador, I think I have 0 in intimidation :D ) and I've also gone to see the woman in the dinner after E. told me his complet story and she didn't say anything about Lily (there aren't options for that), but I gained 50 bucks saying I was the health inspector :D
Lots of thanks for those quick replays, I'm going to restart the game now because I have heard the whole story from E. at least 4 times and the quest don't appear instead :p

Have you installed any patches to the game? I couldn't get the Thinned Blood quest until after I installed the 1.2 patch ( or whatever the numbers are for the first official patch that Troika released)

Yeah, if you haven't patched the game yet, I highly recommend you do so. It fixes some annoying bugs (well bugs that some people experience). Personally, I like the unofficial patches (minus a couple features that bug me) as well.

However there is a chance that downloading and installing the patch might make your entire game go to hell (as many people including me have experienced)

I got the quest with my chars, and none of them have initimidated him.
You just need to keep talking to him.

Also having problems with "Thinned Blood" quest

I'm currently playing the game for the 4th time (after giving up due to REALLY slow game play) and I'm stuck on the thinned blood thing. I got E to tell me to check out the thinned blood thing and I have a walkthrough that says to talk to the old woman in the diner. Problem is that whenever I talk to her my character automatically says " I'm guessing you dont serve me kind here" and i have to leave. WHATS GOING ON?????? :mad:

Hmmm.. .The only requirements to ask her about Lily are that you have E's quest and you haven't already asked her about Lily. E's quest is obtained the instant you tell him you'll look into thin bloods. Is the thinned blood quest not showing up at all in your log? Have you tried speaking to E again?

If the quest isn't in your log and you've tried speaking to him repeatedly to no avail, there is a quick and (relatively) easy fix for this if you have the cheat console enabled. Open the console and enter the following commands:

G.E_Quest = 1
__main__.FindPlayer().SetQuest("Lily", 1)

Enter them exactly as they appear above (that's 2 underscores before and after the word main, if you were wondering). This will put the thinned blood quest in your log and make Doris talk to you about Lily. It doesn't look like any other quests or dialogues will be affected by this, but I still recommend saving your game before using console to manipulate game variables.

Eh...don't you have to talk to the ghoul or Mercurio before you get the "thin-blood" lines ? I am quite sure there was a requirement other then talking to the boy about it....or your Perception has to be high enough...

The only lines in E's dialogue that require you to have spoken to Mercurio are the ones asking him if he's a bunch of thugs with baseball bats nearby. Doris has no such lines, and neither she nor E check any variables related to Knox.

As far as I can tell, E is the only one you need to speak to in order to get the thinned blood quest and after getting the quest from him, Doris' lines regarding Lily should be available.

Now, these dialogue files aren't exactly the most user friendly things in the world to read. It's possible I'm missing something somewhere, but I don't think so.

You can just steal the stuff you need from the diner. It's in the purse behind the old lady.

Lily's purse only appears behind Doris if you are Nosfertu and you have the thinned blood quest.

This could be a bug for two reasons one that you have not patched to Offical version 1.2 and two because you are not using the newest Unoffical patch 2.3.
Both the orginal version (non 1.2 offical) and a couple of the Unoffical patches had bugs.
So make sure you are patch with Offical 1.2 and Unoffical 2.3 for the best game experience.
According to Wesp5 this will be the last Unoffical patch unless they have introduced new bugs with 2.3, good luck. :)
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.
