Davenmor Castle and Leaving Fargrove

I might have missed the answer to my question, "I can't get out of Fargrove"!

When I go to the palace, I can't speak to the King, and there is no barrowgrim archmage! I have never spoken to Captain Ottaka. How do I get OUT of Fargrove so I can begin my quests?

Have you been to Aleistar ? he gives you a letter that will allow you to enter Castle to speak to king

This is text form walkthrough "
You won’t be able to enter the castle right away. After completing a quest for the Celestial Order (#16), you’ll eventually end up with a letter for Lord Davenmor from Aleister at the Arcane Emporium (#10). If you show the letter to the guards, they’ll let you into the castle.

I've done all of that stuff, I have the letter - but I can't talk to the King because the minions of barrowgrim and the archamge won't appear so I can deal with them. I'm a level 8 Elf Female and I can't start any of my quests because I can't get out of the stupid city or talk to the king.

It sounds like you're reading too far ahead in the walkthrough. If you haven't left Fargrove yet, and if you haven't delivered Aleister's letter yet, then you should be able to enter the castle, walk right up to Davenmor, and talk to him.

I hate the spiders, bees, wolves, scorpins, and bats of the outside world. But I love the fact that you can tell the different between night and day outside Fargrove!
