Hi ! I'd like to listen to the game music, watch the videos without lauching the game, so i tried to open the wave and bik files in the game directory, but the audio files seem to be locked ( impossible to play them with windows media player, with VLC strange sounds, seems to be encrypted ), the movies don't play too ...
Is it possible to play those files ? How ??
Thanks

Simply : just copy the files, and rename them from .wav to .mp3. That's all. In the /streammusic/ folder this works great. If you can't see .wav behind a file, just go to "Tools"/"Folder Options" and then at "View" deselect "Hide extension for known file types." And voilà, you can start renaming

Since I'm waging a war against my computer for the same reason (playing (not playing) the audio files), I looked around a bit.
There was a site (http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com) that had all the files available for download, but they were kindly asked to remove them, so nada.
On the official KotOR Forums, there was a topic on the subject, so you might try that - http://swforums.bioware.com/viewtopic.h ... 6&forum=76. Darth333 reccomends decompressing the files with Miles sound tools, which you can find here. I haven't tried that yet, but I think it's your best shot, since I can't get the extension renaming to work for me.
EDIT
Well, I've changed the extensions mus_theme_sith from .wav to .mp3 and it's playing just fine, but I don't understand why I can't play the al_en_*.wav and the al_nt_*.wav files.
And yes I'm very angry about that. When I try to play all the other files in .wav format, I hear hissing, and when I rename them to .mp3 they work great. But the al_*.*s just say "Invalid file type" while in .wav, and when I rename them they don't last a second in WinAmp, while Classic Media Player shows the time but doesn't move or make a sound.
Plus, I can't seem to make Miles ST work. Oh, sure, it's running, but when I try to decompress a file, nothing happens.
I hope the world understands what I'm trying to say through this rant.
And it would be very nice if someone said something.

You should do so well as to be sucked into the engine of some evil Sith Lord, you know.
I'm two weeks late but if this question arises again, you'll find all the details concerning sound files in the music/sound section of this thread: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=143421
