Aran causing instant death?
Aran causing instant death?
So I decide that after being put off twice by Aran that my character would probably kill him. So I attack. I never quite saw what happened but half my party, me included keeled over dead instantly. What's up with this guy? My best guess is that he is too necessary for the plot to be killed.

Good for you for killing Aran. I wanted to do it myself, but I resisted because I "guessed" that the story required his presence. I only wish they gave me a fighting chance against Artemis. It's like in the first BG when I imported chars and killed Gorion (the guy lied to me). A lighting bolt struck my PC dead. I even loaded him up with protections against all kinds of magic just to see if it mattered. It didn't.

Can he be kill ? I've tried but after the 30 times figure it could not be done.Originally posted by Elenias Nal'nair:
He doesn't kill the whole party with one blow, only each member one by one. He has a VERY powerful blade that causes the most troubles. Don't bother killing him cause if you're at least able to hold him at bay only more clones of hime appear...no fun at all.
PS Thanks for the notice in the Other place.I don't get there often.

Yeh, just for grins I went back and tried again. Arkemis or some such. He just spawned right next to me and kicked my parties butt. With a blue circle under him to add insult to injury.
Just had a thought - ctr. Q Arkemis into the party and have him help. I will go back to a saved game and try it tonight. When I am done I will take his super weapon away and send him packing.

Update: I persuaded (ctr Q) Arkemis to join my party and I did indeed kill Aran. Strangely Arkemis wouldn't completely follow orders- he prefered to follow my PC like a shadow. His weapon was a +3, not the uber-weapon I expected, but he does huge backstab damage. That apparently is his trick. The bad news is that after a while, he turned on me and killed me in one blow. Intersting experiment, nevertheless.

@Waverly: hmm...that's ood. I did some 'research' on his hex-code and 'buyed' the weapon he possessed in that code. This very weapon I held then was awesome: stated and named as Longsword+2 it did +1000damage, +50 THAC0, +100% magic resistance, -10AC and +5 attacks. It seems a bit different from the blade you owned...
Can't remember if it was a short sword or katana, but it was definately +3 when you browse his inventory while he is in your party. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he has different equipment and attibutes when outside your party.
Another thought- only looked at the pop-up you get when putting the cursor over the weapon, perhaps I missed the rest.
