Well, I'll likely get flamed into oblivion for this, but I thought BG1 was duuuuuulllll. Too many waste of time combats, too much wandering. I really didn't enjoy it. But I saw so many good reviews of BG2 that I figured I'd give it another shot.

As for my party, I'm playing a straight fighter, NG, and I have Minsc as my other fighter. The rest of my party is magic-oriented: Jaheria, Aerie, Nalia, and Imoen. I'm basically tanking my PC and Minsc, and letting the ladies burn the bad guys to the ground. Image When they're not spell-slinging, they're firing missile for the most part, though I've given Jaheira enough goodies to hold her own in HTH as well, if needs be.

No there is no reason to flame ..Some people didn't like all the walking..that is one reason BG2 had most of that took out. It's hard to make a game to please everyone..

Let me hurl the first fireball...I liked exploring and clearing maps, which is what BG1 basically is. I agree that BG2 is significantly better, but BG1 was a great game in its own right. Just play Diablo I and compare it with BG I, and you'll see why.

And there goes mine fireball.
I like to be suprise, in a florest were nothing is suposse to be there we can find some long lost ruins.
I like city too, but mostly to get quests, finding a place to stay, some healing and buy new equipement. One of the things in IWD that I did not like was the lack of tonws, only one in that game.

I will burn in hell for that, but ...yes, Weasel has right. Many people loved that game (BG) but hated to go around walk, go to another map, walk etc etc etc... damned, I went through it only twice, cause it was exhausting!

Still, the truth is that I loved BG, it was one of the best games ever.

Drakron: I have to agree with you there. The lack of towns and person interaction made me feel so...lonely. I always felt we (my party) were the forgotten ones, out all alone in the inhospitable frozen wasteland of Icewind Dale... The constant tromping through hostile dungeons made me feel like I knew no friends, and only more enemies hungering for my death awaited. It drained all the NPC interaction that I had loved so much about BG1 from the game.
