The second game has its advocates, but Daggerfall tended, for me, to be too uniform. There were a huge number of dungeons, but they only used 10 templates that were randomly slotted in whenever you began a new game. And while I like the idea of gaining access to advanced guild services only as you gain ranks in a guild, again, the guild missions were randomly shuffled among 8 each, whenever you needed a new one.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Well, it's obviously not worth buying the first one, since it can be downloaded for free legally.

As for whether to play them or not, it really depends on how important the graphics are for you. Obviously, if you can't live without 3D, don't play. There might be compatibility issues to; while Arena could be ran off DOSBox it lags badly on my 2.4GHz PC, and Daggerfall seems to have issue with any non-PII machines.

I'm one of the advocates of DaggerFall - because frankly - I find it much better then Morrowind, but I'd suspect it is because I played it (long) before Morrowind.

Because you have played Morrowind, I'd actually (and surprising) recommend you to not get DaggerFall, because then you'll be dissapointed because they are very similar except for the techonolgies used.

DaggerFall featured a very large gameworld and very large dungeons. I was sometimes lost in some dungeons despite the map feature for real life days.

Other then this they are rather similar in gameplay.

DaggerFall was also terrible buginfested - and even with multiple patches there was still many left overs.
