Does it matter in a character how you spend these attributepoints ?. The reason
why i´ve started to ask myself that is that on basically all characters that
has been posted on the forums, i can see almost all skills being highly advanced.
Its not like warriors has ... 20 Intellect and 130 str, or Mages having 130 Int
and 15 str.
Take this for example. A Warrior shouldnt need a high intellect, just keep giving
him a high Vit+str for good tank and hard hits, and some Dex for acually hitting
that which he aim at.
Or a Mage... they dont need to carry heavy armors, swords or shields. Just
push their Int to max, and some Vit for HP.
But this game goes against everything i´ve come to know in RPGs, how come
that attributes having such little impact on where to place them.
Is it worth spending 250k points on 1 extra str, or is it better to drop those
points on... 5 extra Int..
Attribute points :
Well, since the game allows you up to 5 classes, you could have a fighter/mage combo. Also the game makes it so all your skills cost less to advance in the higher your intell is.
Personally I usually disdain magic in RPGs and make characters who run up and bash you in the face. I thiink this is more fun than standing back and casting spells; but even with a melee'er I can see benefits to using magic in this game.

The more you are, the more you can be and the more you can be, the more you can yet become. ~God
I agree with ya Dreez, it is strange. My first character... my gawd it is funny now that I know more about the game. Fighter/Adept - Lord/Monk - Shaolei Master.
Its just funny the way I made him is all. Has 12 Heavy armor, 10 ninjitzu, 13 heavy weapon
Its typical for me though. My first character I will gimp (be wasteful to learn as much as I can for later dates). Ill have to post his end stats when I remember. Can gather more input as to what each skill is worth the points and which arent
As for spell casting... Ranged attacks are a must for me. I need something I can fall back onto, if Melee doesnt work. For example, I will exploit the bosses, so I can actually kill them. I've killed all the bosses that aren't meant to be killed that I've come upon. Trial of Elders, Shadow Ruins, etc. Im going to go back on my first guys near-end save and try to fight the Fiend of Ghazbu in Tomb Of Souls (requires going back to the lizzy temple which was one of my least favorite dungeons) But that should prove very interesting. Exploits are a great form of learning IMO. How else can a mage get far in this harsh harsh world!?

You stare upon the perch,
The sight forces your somach's lurch.
The sight you see,
Is Death glaring back at thee.
You gave it a hum,
You let it run,
Now all you see,
Is the mirror that bleeds.

I have a similar question. I just finished The Shadow Ruins and I have over 5 million exp. points to use. My Char is Level 23. Fighter-Knight-Lord, Adept-Paladin. My question is this: Should I use those Exp points on raise my main sats or raise my Heavy Weapons skill above it's current level of 17. Same with Cel magic, Heavy armor, shields, etc. I 'm mostly do melee, like using a little nether magic and Cel Magic.
Right now I'm at:
Str 98
Int 64
Dex 75
Agl 65
Vit 83
Life 186
Strike +75
Damage +78

Uh... there's not really much point in adding more to your skills is there? Maybe bring up bargaining for a little extra cash? Highest requirement ive seen for a heavy weapon is like 12-14. Otherwise, Id probably spend them on stats. *shrug* Can always keep some. Spend as needed I suppose.
I would up the Agility and Dex abit more... more speed and accuracy can always be useful, Non?

Well, I took a character and raised weapon and armor stats pretty high. I am talking the Light Weapons was 40. There is definitely no benefit to raising weapons skills or armor skills above what is needed to use the gear. Magic skills are another story. As they get higher, you will gain more damage with attack spells, and other spells I can't say if there is any real difference.
One neat trick though, which I found very useful was a combination of Dual weapons, Magic Weapons, and Drain Life. Using a magic weapon ( like flame swords, kama of the sun, winter weapons, etc), you will heal damage. SInce I was dual weilding 2 magic weapons, I was seriously keeping my HP nearly maxed and pretty much had no use for potions or healing cystals. BTW, It may be hard to believe, but the No-Dachi of Wintercan be weilded using the dual weapons skill. I used that along with a Kama of the Sun. Kinda surprising, but very nice. And no, the Kama of the Sun didn't counter the No-Dachi's freezing ability. Just game me more damage/healing.
