I've recently seen the mass distribution of this new game packaged as a "Game Of The Year' edition. This supposedly includes the expansion packs but apart from that I'm clueless to what else it may feature.
I've never played the game before so would it better to simply buy a cheap version of the original or get the new packaged version?
Morrowind GOTY - Any special features?

GOTY contains both expansion packs and a guidebook AFAIK.
The evil nature of GameBanshee revealed below!
GameBanshee sells Xandax to make ends meet
Then, as if that was not enough, they decide to get rid of me via sweepstakes as well

If you have the expansions, the journal becomes *much* easier to use, and you can annotate your map.
Also, most of the really good player made plug-ins, require both expansions. The plug-ins add many additional hours of play: large and small quests, companions, new textures, houses for the PC, new wildlife etc. They can even make the game more challenging. There are thousands available.
Check out the mod sticky at the top of the page for more info.
Oh, and the expansions themselves add a lot of really great content as well.
I especially like the quests and graphics in Bloodmoon. Tribunal is fun too.
All in all, the GOTY Edition is a really awesome deal!
Do you have PC or Xbox
Good point!
Er... go for the PC version if you can.
*plug-ins (see my above post)
*you can use the console if you mess up
*from what I've heard, better graphics

It doesn't have better graphics per se, but you can set higher resolutions and anti-aliasing/antistrophic filtering on the PC.

Plus; GOTY includes an indicator of enemy health, as well as your own, so you know just how close you are to killing certain so and sos
