Shadow Ruins-Entrance?

Post by MemnochTD »

When you place the stone you get in the Sea of Woe on the alter at the Shadow Ruins...the blue haze straight ahead in the doorway...Is this the entrance to the Ruins? I saved game after placing stone on alter and when I reload game, I walk into doorway and the blue "haze" disappears. Am I screwed?

Once you get into Shadow Ruins, there is no way out unless you load a previously saved game, or beat Nausolem (The Gate of Ascension will take you out, once you have taken the relic and killed Nausolem). Now, there is a bug that I think I've heard about, in where there is a shadow gate that remains at the entrance (the room when you first enter the ruins) that should not be there, and if you go out that way, you will exit the ruins and will not be able to return to Shadow Ruins. So basically, it's a fatal bug.
You stare upon the perch,
The sight forces your somach's lurch.
The sight you see,
Is Death glaring back at thee.
You gave it a hum,
You let it run,
Now all you see,
Is the mirror that bleeds.

It looks like the gateway disappears if you leave the area (including entering the ruins) or if you load your game. There isn't any way to get it to re-appear, so hopefully you have an alternate save you can fall back on.

Shadow Ruins

Thats just the point...I cant get into the ruins. I saved game after placing the stone on the alter and BEFORE entering the ruins. When I log into game I run into the "purple haze" and it disappears and thats it...I have just wall left w/ no way to enter the ruins.

I placed the stone to the entrance of shadow ruins and saved before entering. There was no problem. Once entering the shadow ruins you must complete the quest.

Uhh something just occured to me while I was re-reading this. Did you hit Shift when you got into the haze?

Saving isn't the problem. Loading is the problem (here and in many other places).
