Entering game BUG

Post by Punkatt »

Hi!
I got the latest version of BG2 and im running it in xp but I chose 98 compatibilitymode since it wasnt made for xp...... Allthought when Í`ve created my character and try to enter, it loads, it finishes but when im to recieve the game picture with the my character it freezes and shows a mark like a cirkel with a cross over it, like a none movement mark and then it wont run.
What am I supposed to do to make it work.....

Punkatt, welcome to the forums. I hope you enjoy your stay. I've removed your link and request asking people to email their responses, since we prefer to use our forum as a, well, forum, rather than message center. Feel free to post threads for questions you may have regarding BG2; and the answers will be left here, for all to find (using our advanced search) and use.

Concerning your question: have you tried not using compatibility mode? And have you downloaded the latest official patch? Are you also running ToB, or just SoA?

Again

I`ve tried using all the diffirent compabilities (95,98,nt,2000). I`ve got the latest directx, got the latest patch and Im running just SoA... figuring the might be something about the 3d-card....I got a Geforce 2 fx pro fully upgraded or so I think.... What about this open-gl thing... I run it without 3d-support so it shouldent matter but anyways.... I tried running it again but with diffirent settings and the only thing that changed was that I could move the pointer for a brief second... Is there a movie there or something?
I got a P3 800mhz 384 RAM so there shouldent be any problems there
Service pack 2 on the other hand might cause some complications

Gah

The reasond for it not working was that my grahpics card was to updated... So I degraded it and now it flows perfectly.

Glad to hear it, but check to make sure your current video drivers don't cause problems with other programs. :)

Can you add which card/set you were using? Fable's right about the drivers-I had/have the exact same problem with this and Half Life 2 for my Nvidia graphics card. 77.72 drivers (which I needed for HL2)gave me the exact same problem but older ones work fine-although I have to put the new ones back in for HL2. 77.77 just came out a day or two ago-in fact the same day you posted your problem-and the release notes say that 77.76 "fixed a memory allocation issue that caused general instability in a variety of games" for all GPU's.
