Don't use the console when in the game... go to the menu if you want to use it... or you can exit the console by hitting the "~" key... that works too... Anyway, I had the same issue.

if it freezes, then i just hit the escape key and wait a bit, then hit it again... it should either defrost, or go to the menu screen...

Game Freeze when using console

Ya I was having the same problem. Just remember; use the "~" to open and close the console. DON'T USE THE 'X' in the corner.

Thanks for that I think I have been using "X" so maybe that's why I've had so many problems.

I had problems with the console too at first. (I'm running a Win98 box.) I found that if I moved the mouse out of the console window, and then closed the console using the ~ key, the mouse pointer would remain on the screen and the mouse would no longer control the character. I had to make sure the pointer was within the console box when I turned it off for the pointer to go away.
