Hacking Weapon Damage
Hacking Weapon Damage
Hackers - Hacking Weapon Damage
I am trying to find where they store the stats for melee and ranged
combat weapons. I am also looking for the formula for how often
you actually hit and damage any enemy in the game.
I was wondering if anyone had found these locations. I have my
Archery skill up to 17 and rarely hit an enemy 20 feet or 609.6cm
away. I am using 'The Bow of the Avenger'. I have been taught
both archery and firearms and at 20 feet with a bow I could hit
my enemy in the eye (take your pick which one) 18 out of 20 shots
and those two shots that didn't hit the eye would still be a good
head shot.
I am beginning to think it makes far more sense to not raise any
fighting skills above about 8 and use the rest on Vitality and anything
that will raise your ability to block and that includes Dexterity. I
think extra Strength would be good if it made any difference but I
anm not seeing it.
I would appreciate any members who think that hacking is cheating
to please not post or reply to this thread. I know I can't stop you as
it is your right but I am asking anyways. They took my $39.95 very
willingly for a game that is nowhere near being a finished product and
they knew it when they released it which can be construed as fraud
but I will not pursue that.
Hackers welcome and let us see what we can do.

There are weapons that require higher levels of skill. FOr example, the blade of death requires about a 12 heavy weapons skill.
But, I can vouch that there is no point in going higher than what is needed for your weapons that you intend to use. I took a fighter/adept/saumari/valkarie/war witch and raised weapon skills literally into the 40's. Definitely no difference in damage caused. On the other hand, I noticed that in addition to raising magic weapon, if you raise arcane/celestial magic skills, the magic ability/attack of the magic weapon will do more damage. Example: With the sceptre of storms, I was originally only doing about 1 point of damage/unit of time originally. With a higher level of celestial, the damage actually increased and eventually I was doing about 5-6 points of damage per unit of time for the spell. (I use unit of time since the spell does damage over timeto a single target).

Hounder, I agree with using magic weapons
Hounder, thanks for the reply.
I agree with you completely on raising magic weapons from what
I have noticed and mine is currently at 17.
I have also found that alot of magic in v1.3 is not working. I was
using 'Blade of Baal' and 'Divine Strike' and neither seems to work.
I am currently waiting for patch number 2.2. I believe the appropriate
song lyrics here are "until the twelfth of never I'll still be waiting for you'.
I do believe I slightly modified the end part to suit the situation. I thank
whoever wrote the lyrics as they came in very handy and frankly my mind
is getting just too old.

They both seem to work
Blade of baal and divine strike both work. D
ferncliff, thanks for the response
They both seem to work but I do not notice any additional
damage while they light up nicely. I have my Celestial and
Nether magic at either level 16 or 17 though 'Blade of Baal'
did seem to work much earlier.
I prefer to use the level 3 Arcane spell 'Fire Burst' when I
need the extra punch and I think that spell is very under-
rated. I stock up on it whenever I can add more so I'll
have more to use. That spell can be devastating to a
buch of enemies and from a good distance.
Have you tried celestial lightning? That is a sweet spell. If you follow the arcane route get some blast nova. Takes out a whole mob in one cast. D
ferncliff, thanks for the response.
I agree with the Arcane route but find 'Celestial Lightning' a little weak.
I use ' Fire Burst ' instead as it can devastate even at a distance if
you have enough of them. I use the sell to someone who doesn't
stock it method to get enough. Sell one and then buy as many as
you can so you can rapid fire since it is an Arcane spell it renews
itself over time. I fired off a very quick 100 'Fire Burst' spells once
in a rather desparate situation before I got my Novas and it took
7 days at a campfire to renew them all and that includes my
Heraldry regen bonuses.
You were right and I was wrong about 'Blade of Baal' and 'Divine Strike'
as they both still work. I guess I just seem to remember them having
more of an effect earlier in the game. I have all my magic classes at
level 17 or 18 except Rune magic which is level 15.
There are still alot of spells that do not work. I tried swimming in Lake
Hadoen for the chest and almost died using both the potion 'Liguid Air'
and 'Crystal of Air'. I get down to the bottom by the chest and start to
die so I take somemore Air to no effect and have to pump healing
potions and head for the surface. Thanks heavens for 'Poisonous Cloud'
on many occasions even in water.

Might consider posting in the bug section with a complete scenario of the moment?
I also agree with Kel on this one. Fire Burst seems more useful than Lightning, as it has a "spread damage effect" and there is no recast time. Straight chain nukin baby!

The one I am most interested in is Levitation and what it is supposed

I don't know how to 'hack' other than writing simple travel or combat scripts; but I don't think hacking is cheating. I think of it as more.. enhancing.
Anyway, other than upping weap skills, what is your dex? You say you want to up dex to block with.. well, I don't think that's how dex works in this game. Dex does, however, directly correspond to your accuracy. Strength - in other games I have played - made a difference in damage dealt, as well as types of armors and weaps you could wield - however in this game, it appears it has no correlation to damage. I've not run across the 'Bow of the Avenger' (yet), but I can't see any weap in this game requiring a level of 17 seeing as how it takes over a million points just to get to lvl 10 (in hvy weaps).

I have to disagree about lightning being not very useful. The most annoying combats int he game ( IMO anyway) which are verses the bats and bees are made alot easier with that spell, as it auto-hits them and stays til the spell expires or the target dies. And if the target dies, the spell moves on to the next target as long as it has more duration left. Plus, unline other spells, you don't have to wait til the creature is right on top of you. You can start off taking the creatures out at a distance.
Dexterity

Hi BlueOval, thanks for the response.
My dexterity is over 125 and the higher it is the better the chance of your
hitting with melee weapons as it does not seem to have any effect on how
often you hit with a bow. I think that the developers either forgot or chose
to curtail the use of a bow as it is not very accurate in this game. Dex
directly affects your strike ability and it also enhances your ability to block.
I don't block as I prefer to move and strike. Strength add one point to your
damage each point after you reach 25 and will allow my character to wear
heavy armor and wield a nasty two-handed weapon. I would dual wield if
they fixed it and if that was the path that I had chosen for my character
but since the archery skill is so poor I have chosen the Battlemage and
then Warlock to give me the ability to reach out and touch my enemies
with some nasty spell.
I am playing on the hard/many encounters and the cost of heavy weapons
skills should drop after I finish my Paladin quest which will make me an
Adept/Mage/Paladin so i will pick up some bonuses on the cost of skills.
I am often in fights with twenty or more enemies and they keep on coming.
I would be farther along but I need to rest the index finger on my right
hand after some of the fights. I am thinking of setting up a second key
if possible to give my left mouse button and my finger a rest.
My character is enhanced unfortunately to almost the point of being a
God which I did inadvertantly. I missed the effect that raising one Stat
would have when I enhanced my character. I will have to bring him down
some after I finish my Paladin quest. I was playing around with him
while waiting for patch v1.3 and have discovered that no matter how high
your Dexterity and correspondinly your Strike ability it doesn't really increase
your abiltiy to hit your opponent so that is a bug still in the game. i used
to love to play tag with Trolls before I entered Fargrove but I can not hit
them any more at level 13 than I did at level 9 even before enhancement.
Enhancement did not help either so I would have to find the formula they
use to figure out how often you strike your opponent if I could find it. I
finished most of a level off just killing moonbeasts with only a scratch.
I will be posting a new and hopefully funny post in the near future with
a picture of my moonbeast battles. The post will be meant to be light
hearted and pretty well open. Time to fight again!!!

Hi Hounder, thanks for the response.
IMO you are missing two of the cheaper and more effective spells in
the game. Shrieking Star is a level one spell so it is cheap and I have
found it far more effective against a variety of enemies. This spell has
all the distance and damage you need for the pests in this game which
includes rats, bats, bees and poisonous snakes. Give it a try and it
can be used against other enemies.
The single best spell against all sorts of enemies that you want to start
picking off at a distance is the level 3 Fire Burst as each spell fires two
fire missles that will pick out and ememy with disance and an almost
rapid fire capability. Once again not an expensive spell and if you need
more sell one to any NPC in the game and buy about 300 hundred. Do
the same with Shrieking star.
I have notice that people in the forums are ignoring the lower level spells
and these are two of the best.

I didn't realize that dex had an affect on blocking simply because I never do it. My bad. My char is lvl 22 now and just finished Naga temple, so I don't want to start all over again now; but he cannot dual-wield nor does he use arcane spells. I'm sure I will make it thru to the end ok, but my next char is going to be a dual-wielder/arcane user. I favor the eastern classes since I practice aikido IRL and have enjoyed other games wherein you can use martial arts as a primary weapon.
I feel like I am missing out on these spells that everyone is talking about - blast nova, etc. - so I definitely want to try an arcane magic user next time around. Kel, I posted my own thread about this, but am hoping you can answer.. how does one release the magical power in a weapon while standing still? In other words, use it like a ranged weapon? I have the sceptre of storms from a quest and have inadvertently released streams of lightning at MOBs several times; but I cannot seem to figure out how to do it on purpose.

If you have the same rank in magic weaponry, you should be able to use it simply by clicking the attack button. It only has so many charges, so once those are out, you begin to melee.
Aikido... that's an art wherein you use your opponent's own force against them?

Not to beat this too much but what is also great about lightning is nothing is immune to it. Also the 'ball' spells can be avioded by creatures but they can't aviod lightning. Heck you can fire it and then turn and run away and it will keep blasting them behind you. Your fire burst spell won't do you much good against a dragon, chunneler, demon etc. This is also what make blast nova the best arcane spell IMO. D
Actually, shrieking star is useful, but with the lightning spell, it can jump around. IF you have a target to the left of you and one to the right, it will strike one, then the other assuming it kills the 1st target. The shrieking star spell on the other hand, goes in a straight line, so you have to cast at least 2 spells of it uness the targets are lose together.
I still think Blast spells, or Ice Shards is among the more useful. The Ice shards operates on the same principle of Lightning, yet it freezes and pushes monsters away.

But somethings are immune to ice. Lightning pushes things back as well. Anyhow, whatever you have fun with is the best spell to use. D

Hi BlueOval, thsnks for the response and the question.
I am using the 'Katana of Winter' as my secondary sword and the only
way that I know of releasing it's magical weapon in it's case is to use
it in melee combat. I know of no way to draw upon the Magic as it
automatically releases itself when you use it. The same goes for any
magical Bow but that works at a distance if it will hit anything.
You have to use any magical weapon to release the magic and I do not
believe that you can release the magic until you actually use it to fight.
Your scepter will only work in melee combat.
You can still use Arcane Magic though but you have to use scrolls which
do not renew. Once you aquire a scroll get thee rapidly to a dealer and
even if he does not normally stock the item sell it to him. You can then
start buying them in 10 at a time. I would suggest saving before before
you do this as a precaution. That way if he only has the one copy you
can reload and sell it at a place that carries Magic items and this includes
Mages guilds, Apothecaries or one of the Celestine houses. I sold a
scroll of Resurrection to an Armorer and bought back ten though I did save
before doing it.
BlueOval, so you can use Arcane Spells after all or any spell from any
class of magic. I hoped this helped as I know of no restrictions on any
class of character. One more thing I almost forgot and that is that
carrying a shield will catch some missle or melee attacks automatically.
I consider it protection for my off hand side and they don't seem to
take any damage. I do carry a backup shield the 'Grim Shield' as Lord
Barrowgrim's soldiers are willing to give them to me when they are dead.
I have played an Eastern fighter in the game "Throne of Darkness" and
loved the dual wield. My Barbarian in Diablo II and Lord of Destruction
also Dual wielded.
