Need a pointer or 2....

Post by Juniper »

Im in the Shadow Ruins Final Area....and need to jump into the "wind tunnel" to get the stone.....
I've read the walkthrough and have tried jumping backwards.....to no avail...i was just wondering where a good "launching" point is....
Also, just outta curiosity, what level were you when you got to this point (if you can remember) im level 16......
Any help is greatly appreciated!!! :D

What has worked for me is to stand outside the room to the wind tunnel room on the left hand side of the doorway, angle yourself a little to the right side of the cyclone, run in at this angle and jump about midway between the wall and where the wind starts and start pressing shift as fast as you can. This is a forward jump and has worked for me twice.
I can't recall what level I've been at this point in the game but somewhere in the 20's my last game and in the 30's the first time. I was fooling around the first game waiting for the patch 1.3. Lev 16 is a little low but I'm sure you can do it at that level. The creatures are not that tough in the shadow ruins except for the boss who can be a real pain if you are not prepared. Which other dungeons have you done? I think the order you are ment to do them in is
(after elf lands)
Naga temple
Draedoth temple
tomb of souls
shadow ruins
irynthabl maze

thanks for the tip...ill try it out!

The ones ive done.....Naga temple, and this one....so that probally lends to my low level....im just kinda going where my path/quests leads me..if i can get in....I'M GOING~ :D i try not to use the walkthrough unless im really stuck so, im sure that i could be doing things a little backwards..does it really matter if i do one before the other?
This is my first go around with the game..and I can already tell that there are a few things that i would do differently...but i am pretty well into it so im just gonna go with my wonderful mutt of a character...Valkyrie/Maurauder/thief/fighter....the theif part was a mistake....but unfortunately, i saved over the point before i joined...

Or, you could try backflipping into the vortex? I always get it on the first try doing that.
You stare upon the perch,
The sight forces your somach's lurch.
The sight you see,
Is Death glaring back at thee.
You gave it a hum,
You let it run,
Now all you see,
Is the mirror that bleeds.

It doesn't matter which order you do them in except the maze will be the last. But the creatures and bosses in the dungeons get harder in roughly the order I listed it seems to me.
Save before you take on the boss in the shadow ruins. D

Best advice for that guy is to stay away from the walls, and being surrounded by monsters. The spell he casts hurts like hell.. can knock off 150 hps if you get hit with or near all of them, np. I stood in the center of the room, facing him, and kept blocking his spells, then returned fire when I could. When I ran out of spells, I went in blocking his attacks, and launched my own barrage of melee attacks.

I've been running around the room and getting my attacks in when I can....I've been lucky up to this point...ended up getting my butt handed to me at my last go around...and figured that I need to re-think my plan of attack..

You said you don't read the walkthrough unless you really need to so you may not want to read this spoiler but it important info if you don't know it.

Once you get the relic in the center of the room you must hit him with it at least once so he'll stop regaining his hit points. Then you can finish him off with whatever works best for you. D

LOL, yeah.....I did "glance" at the walkthrough for this one...the jumping into the wind tunnel got to me...I tried doing the jump then the rapid shift, but it didn't work for me....
I finally was able to get through with a "lucky" backflip! :D
Are you still playing?

I'm playing my third time through as a fighter/adept/paladin/marauder/(soon to be)deathlord. Unfortunitly he is turning out a lot like my first char. Fighter/adept/celestial/knight/lord only this time with duel weapons which is cool. My second char was adept/mage/paladin/sorcerer/wizard.
Sorry the forward jump didn't work for you. Good luck finishing of Nauseleum(Whatever his name is). D

You oughta try Fighter/Mage/Marauder/Battlemage/Warlock. Its awesome... you can get Heavy armor/weapons up abit cheaply, and you can greatly advance your offensive array of spells. With the correct weapon combo, you can do a lot of damage very fast, and the option of heavy shields is viable.

I was about level 14-15 when I first beat Naus I do believe. I finished the game with my first toon when he was level 17.

I took the wizard class last time because I wanted spellfire. My spells were crazy powerfull. I could never get my skills high enough for the best armor or the best weapons but who need them when I could fire off one blast nova and kill everything in sight. If something blocked my spell with their shield you could watch their shield disapear as the spell distroyed it, nice. I won't likely play through again it's getting a bit boring, nothing new to find or do. I did find level 3 magic lock picks this time through. Has anyone found those before? I also found the second chest in lost lake but otherwise the same old same old. D

My character is wearing Deathlord Plate, and Crimson Plate, aswell as a Sapphire Crystal greatsword and a Kama of the Void. do about 20 damage each hand, and my spells vary. Nova blast does about 60-70 I think, I dont know for sure what Fire and Ice blast will hit for, as most monsters can not last through an entire barrage of my spells. I have spent a lot of time farming for spells lol. The only thing I spend money on now, are spells.

ferncliff, the first time I played through I had a bunch of level 3 magic lockpicks. OK, maybe only about 15. The second time I played through, I never found any, so I am not sure what the deal is. The second time I played through I purposely did not spend much in the lock pick, disarm traps, etc. because I thought I would get enough of those magic lockpicks to help me through. It never happened.
