rune magic

Post by miggles »

How does Rune magic work? I have the spell Rune Armor, but when i try to cast it, it gives me the noise like your out of charges. Is there some other component to rune magic than having the spell?

To me rune magic is a pain. You have the spell, but then you have to have the rune stones that supply the power for the spell. If you hover over the spell it will usually tell you the rune stone components. It will also tell you how many charges of the spell you have.

I have a few rune stones. Hovering over them with the mouse tells me absolutely nothing. I saw a rune spell - looked just like a rune stone - for sale somewhere early in the game. It listed a couple of rune components when I hovered over it; but other than the spell description of 'Rune Shield', it told me nothing of what it does. I bought it and casted it a couple of times. My shield glowed blue, but other than that I couldn't tell what effects the spell had. My armor ratring did not increase. Neither did any of my elemental immunities. I have no idea how to mix the runes to make whatever spell, and I can find nothing in the manual or the walkthru covering Rune Magic; so other than having 3 or 5 or whatever in Rune Magic for my Paladin tier, I don't use it.

To mix up a rune spell you must have the spell and the stones to charge it. The spell tells you which stones you need. You can't mix stones without the spell unlike nether spells. Grymlock has a number of spells and stones. santuary is a great spell to have making you almost immune to magic (like fire ward for magic) but it's very expencive (did I say it's great). Rune blade is nice too when you need an extra kick to kill a tough creature or mob. Rune shield just make your shield invulnerable for a time. anti-magic shield makes your shield reflect magic back at the caster. D

I just figured all that out myself, but what about rune warrior? Is that like the celestial angel or the summon spells for nether? My nether summ spells don't work worth a crap, but my celestial one does. Can you summon more than 1 at a time - like say, a celestial pet and a rune pet AND a nether pet?

Rune warrior is an enchantment upon yourself. It boosts your damage if I am not mistaken.

"Temporarily increases the caster's combat statistics."
You stare upon the perch,
The sight forces your somach's lurch.
The sight you see,
Is Death glaring back at thee.
You gave it a hum,
You let it run,
Now all you see,
Is the mirror that bleeds.

So it's just a higher level rune blade spell? That's kinda disappointing. :(

Not really. I think they both can be used together.
You stare upon the perch,
The sight forces your somach's lurch.
The sight you see,
Is Death glaring back at thee.
You gave it a hum,
You let it run,
Now all you see,
Is the mirror that bleeds.

Spitting shield is cool. When you block a blow with your shield to causes damage to the enemy. D

I prefer the rune blade spell. While it is limited to only bladed weapons, it definitely adds a boost. And the rune sanctuary spell is invaluable when fighting the Shadowlord.

Only one time when the rune blade spell may be detrimental. That is for the rescue the sensai quest. That guy has a bad habit coming between me and that evil kidnapper while we are fighting, thus keeping me from being able to fully using everything I have. Hit him once and that pretty much means a reload....That is - IMO- the most difficult quest in the game due to the high risk factor of killing sensai, and it gets worse if there is a random encounter, as the sensai is also targetable by the new opponents...

Saving the Sensei

Hounder,

I wonder if a few time crystals would help keep your aim true. I don't know because I haven't gotten that far, myself, but they seem like they might help in that situation.

It won't solve the problem if the patch doesn't include heradries. No heradries means the game goes straight to the dusty shelves.

? :)

Is a rune spell same as a scroll spell? If so I regret selling all my scrolls. Where is Grymlock exactly so I see him and learn?

You can find Grymlok's location on the map by checking the walkthrough - that's how I found him. He doesn't teach you anything per se. He gives you the code to the Vale moongate and he has a bunch of rune spells and runes for sale, more than at any other location I've been to and I've done everything save for the draedoth temple and beyond.

Time crystals might help with the sensei. I just saved my game before running up to meet him - he's already in battle with the assassin. I had to fight the ass a few times before the sensei got out with his life. :\

no rune is a form a magic, the scrolls are a one time thing. You use them then their gone.

You'll find Grymlok is his tower in the Demigoth Lands. He's lost his memory and you can revive him after you talk to Staroxia in The Forbidden Lands.
