Stuck again!

Post by child_of_bhaal »

Well, how many times have I been stuck in the entire game of BG2? Lets just say, a lot.
Okay, so I am finally almost done with the game. I am on the final test....the Ravager. I have tried about a million times, and I cannot kill him! Well, I did manage to kill him once, but only when I changed my character into the slayer, which cost me 2 reputation points.
So, anyone have any advise on how to kill him without having to turn into slayer?
My party leader is a fighter/mage/thief and in my party I have: Minsc, Jaheira, Imoen, Anomen, and Mazzy.

I would REALLY appreciate any help I could get!

first when he use the blades to surround himself dispel it it helps a lot that it wouldn't damage your party much.....and also don't bother fighting those swords it will just keep respawning itself the moment it die.....just let all your party members and you to continue whacking the ravenger and let your healer stand a side so when your party member need healing, the healer can heal them

The Clay Golem (from the manual you get in Watcher's Keep) is immune to slashing weapons, so you can use it to distract the swords. Also, Mordenkainen's Sword is good for this purpose. As Mortal says, focus on the Ravager and try to ignore the swords as much as possible. Dispelling the blade barrier is only temporary since the Ravager casts it continuously. If you can wield Carsomyr or Staff of the Magi, the auto-dispell feature is useful.

Haste and buff your party as much as possible before going through the opening. The idea is to do as much damage as possible, since this guy has a lot of HP. Stoneskin and Prot. from Magical Weapons is also a good idea.

For the love of god make sure you have a ton of breach magic spells. Ruby ray of reversal is the best in the game for this purpose other than that one lvl 9 spell, but just pierce magic, breach, remove magic, anything is unbelievably essential. Have a mage casting those continuously, even when you think he doesn;t have any more defenses because by the time you cast it, hell have more up. In terms of your mages have them cast those and pelt him with every direct damage spell you have that isnt an area effect , especially magic missile. It;s funny how a little 1st lvl spell is one of the most powerful in the game because it routinely beats magic resistance and is realy your best best in terms of direct damage. Make sure every mage has all of those he can get, same with the breac-type spells. Keep a priest healing everyone and dispelling any effects. Abandon missile attacks as they never seemed to work for me (i think he may be immune) keep three guys pounding away and youll evetually get him if you keep at his shields and chuck every magic missile you got at him. This may sound similar to every bit of advice ive given concerning a BGII boss, but it seems to work (he just has alot of shields and resistance).
