You might argue that the N64 was less popular than the NES, but neither SNES nor N64 were flops.
Well -you need to include the selling numbers of PS/PS2 and XBox to deem the console is selling less.
Console games were not commonly released on PCs and vice versa. This shows only a merge between PC and console games, not the rise of either.
Well - this merger actually to me shows that the console has become more popular with the gameing industry, because this way they can hit both markets. They wouldn't be worried about utilizing the console if it were on the recline. Then they'd be focusing either on one or the other to reduce cost. (amongst other things)

The best selling console games never made it outside that console. And it could be taken both ways, you know. Perhaps the developers thought that the console might not survive for long, and looked to port their games to the PC?

Developing to multiple platforms (multiple consoles as well, console isn't just one platform) are more expensive then developing to a singular platform. And because I don't have the impression console selling numbers are reclining when viewing all the major console combined (haven't seen any statistics to that), it would be logical that the developers undertake this developing strategy to hit as many markets as possible.

I'd rather get it for the PC, but a PC that most likely won't run it properly and a lack of money to upgrade lead me to the console. I've played Morrowind 3 on both pc and xbox, and enjoy them both... so I don't really mind much. There's just the hastle of setting up xbox live and stuff to get mods and stuff.

AMD XP3000 processor and 512MB ram running on Windows XP, I'm not wrong in thinking it won't run properly am I?

If you get another 512MB you might still have a chance at it, if you upgrade your video card.

I think there are, I read about them on some website or in a magazine article. I've never used the service myself, so I wouldn't know how to d/l them, just that the source said it was possible.

I say that PC will be a better choice. Always will be. Because buying a system every couple of years, is a total waste of good cash. And who says you can't buy a big old monitor for your PC and download a HDTV patch to support your monitor. It just takes work and I know it sucks to do, but hey why not? I am not dissing the Xbox 360! Not at all it jus in like two years Xbox 360 will already be old.

I R3gr3t Wat I Said

Actually I agree with Desert Eagle. Jus the fact that there is alot to buy for the comp. Also the fact that there are alot of bugs with comps.and the price for the Xbox 360 is always good for the average buyer which most of us are. So I completely take back what I said.

PCs are extremely inexpensive, nowadays. They are easily customized, and upgradable. They have excellent sound and visual systems, tons of storage space, loads of memory (that in MW allowed for up to 210 mods at a time), various entry devices for great ease-of-use, and backup drives to prevent loss of material. You can't multitask on an Xbox. Can you access a network of your choice, and surf the Web? Can you download what you want? Can you run virus checkers and spyware checkers? Move files to different directories? Defrag drives to speed up performance? Move whatever you're playing to the background while you bring up Word, as the boss passes by? Each to their own, but I think the extremely expensive hype about Xbox is just that: hype. A PC gives you so much than any console can.

I intend to play it on PC, all the way.

*It is easy to fix things via the console if you screw up
*You can download mods. Mods make Morrowind an infinitely more interesting game. I have no doubt that Oblivion will be the same, and I also doubt that you will be able to add as many mods via the new XBox.
*As others have noted, a computer gives you so much more.

I won't, however, be able to play it on my present beast. But, I am in the happy situation where I plan to buy a new PC in the next year or so. By that time, Oblivion will be out, so I'll know *exactly* what the actual requirements are, and I don't have to sit here biting my nails while wondering if my present PC will run the game. It is nearly five years old, and I know it won't :D

Hmm.. maybe by the time I get a new PC, there'll be a GOTY edition of Oblivion out that I can scoop up for a steal :p

It wouldn't surprise me :p Isn't there a direct corellation between manufacturer generated hype and subsequent awards? :D

But anyway, er sorry for the OT, @ fable ;)

Yes, you are right, there really seem to be ;)

And if you look at elder scrolls site, you can see that it has been hyped, and that they like to brag about it :D

But back to topic: I will be playing the computer version, simply because I don't own a console, and neither do I plan on investing in one :) Plus, I think I have a decent enough computer. Plus: I like computers better than consoles :D

Apart from what Fable & DW already mentioned, PC's come in laptop size. In my case that is a definite argument.

For how long do you expect to be able to play a game on a laptop?

I'm sorry, I don't think I get the question.
Do you mean to say that games have become/ will become so resource-hungry that there aren't/won't be any affordable laptops on which to play them?
Or do you mean to say that if I buy a laptop now, it will quickly become obsolete and I won't be able to play newer games on it?
Or something else.
I think that God in creating man somewhat overestimated his ability.

Laptops have never been used much for gaming. But nowadays, you can get quite the powerhouse, which can with ease compete with any console or stationary computer.

You poor ignorant xbox users you say look my xbox has a geforce 2 mx/mx, and, it has the online capabilities of a PC in 1987(even though oblivion is a single player game). Even when oblivion is on the xbox 360 the gpu of the 360 will probably be radeon 9550 to 9800. I intend to buy oblivion for both the 360 (yes frodo was able to convince me) and pc I don't think the 360 will compare with the splendor of my PC which is currently packing Atholon FX-57 and dual 7800 GTXs.
