Hello, hopefully someone can shed some light on this. I play VtM: BL on a 2gig Ram, 3.9 GHz, WinXP Prof computer ( to get the technicalities out of the way ) and so far I haven't run into any game problems of the technical nature. The game installed fine, the graphics run fine, no glitches, no stuttering, no nothing.
Now, I've reached the part in the first chapter where you're supposed to take out the warehouse and am making my way through the area taking out thugs. So far, so good. I've cleaned up the main body of them, located the office where I need to put the Astrolite, and then decided to take a further look around in case any of the thugs hang back and block my way out. The thing is... after dispatching all of them to the netherworld, there is one thug left at the front of the warehouse. I approach him, take him out... and then my character drops into the ground. Literally. I can still move him around, I can jump, but it looks like I see everything from six-feet-under. I can even pick up dropped weapons that way, only, I see them from below instead of looking down at them. I can move all the way through the open space, I can move *under* train cars and boxes... I just can't get back to normal level anymore.
I went back to an earlier save and went *back* to that single thug... and the same thing happened again. Plop, my character sees the daisies from below.
I guess my question is two-fold: has that happened to anyone before, and, I see a lot of 'unofficial patches' info on the news section here for this game. Is there an official patch? Where do those unofficial patches come from, and can I install them without risking my computer?

Wow, that's weird... the only time I've ever experienced anything even similar is when the game automatically ran "no-clip" on me, and I ran down a flight of stairs... I ended up under them... anyhow, I don't know if you're having the same problem or not... It might be that specific thug that triggers it, so maybe just try to avoid him?

Why is it that I'm drawn to treasonous bastards?

I remember that! The first time I wiped out the entire Giovanni compound, I had the same thing. I could only see the top of his head above the grass, but he could shoot me just fine. The only way I found the blighter in the first place was by standing up and tracing the gunfire traces back to their source. Then I sat there getting shot at while I carefully scanned the area to find out where *exactly* it was coming from. Then I noticed the unlikely-looking bump in the lawn.
