Can't Install HoW

Post by Melisah »

It's been a long time since I've been here so I hope it's okay to ask for help. Anyway, every time I try to install HoW it installs up to 71% and then I get this error message.

Component transfer error

Component: Minimum Compressed
File Group: Minimum Compressed
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

OK

I even reformatted (I had to anyway) and tried again and got the same thing. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Two questions:

Have you successfully installed HoW before?
Does 'D:' refer to your CD Drive?

To question 1, yes I had a LONG time ago.

To question 2, yes I believe so. I am installing it from a disc in drive D.

Also, I JUST reformated yesterday and tried the install again and got the same error if that makes a difference.

Have you tried completely reinstalling IWD + HoW?

Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is a simple algorithm to determine bit failures. Seems like your CD, esp. the data2.cab file, has been damaged.

Thanks Raedwulf, that's kind of what I was thinking. Looks like I'll have to pick up another.
