Summon creatures. Lots of 'm. They'll tear her apart, and in the small arena, she gets cornered pretty fast. Try to get your high-level summons out ASAP.
That worked for me, anyway. Also, if you feel like 'cheating' her, have one of your spellcaster cast a beneficial spell or two into the pit during the fight.
summon a fire element in the middel just before she starts useing any swarms or other annoying things. Then you can run around in circels and remember to pick up the staff on the ground. If the element get a hold of her use the time to heal cuz there isn't much time for that.
Good luck
(you do have fire elements, right?)

Don't eat sharp objects it can be the cause of 7 out of 10 bad stomages.
Even better, in my opinion, is to summon a nymph instead and then cast a Doom spell at Faldorn. You usually have time to do both before she manages to toss her spell at you.
She usually ends up either charmed or held wich gives you time to summon more friends or boost yerself up with spells.
Then there was the first time I met her with my avenger. Fight starts, I toss chromatic orb at her, Faldorn misses save and dies. And who had planned so carefully for that fight...
Thanks alot, i will try those tactics later on, and i guess one of them would work. I have allready tried to summon that nymph but got beaten up anyway. Still... i dunno if Cernd has got those elementals... does he?
I did what Elanias did by having Cernd change into the greater werewolf, at which point he just opened a can on Faeldorn and she was out like a light in a couple of minutes.
I'm not sure about this but I think you can just walk up to the edge of the pit with one of your other guys and hand over some nice equipment to Cernd. As I said I'm not sure if this works, but it did work during Mazzy's fight against that ogre (which is in a very similar fighting pit).
Kinda cheating though...
Av var och en efter förmåga.
Åt var och en efter behov.
Here is my experience (Cernd had to fight Faldorn, Cernd was freshly hired - no advances in levels):
1. It is useless to give Cernd any items - Cernd will drop all his inventory (including his staff!) to the ground before entering the arena.
2. It is useless to cast any spells on Cernd - there seems to be a long (game) time interval between talking with Faldorn and entering the arena so that all spells cast on Cernd wear off alost immediately.
3. As far as shapeshift to werewolf is concerned, I have a bad experience with it - Faldorn killed the werewolf easily.
4. I recommend the following strategy:
a) Shapeshift Cernd to human form.
b) Teach Cernd 2x Shilelagh, 2x Call Woodland Being, 1x Insect Plague.
c) Rest.
d) Save Game (you need some luck to suceed).
e) Talk with Faldorn. Pause the game immediately when circlets occur below Faldorn and Cernd. Cast Insect Plague to Faldorn. You must be faster than she - she is trying to cast Insect Plague to Cernd.
f) This gives you a few seconds of time. Cast Call Woodland Being near the wall of the Arena. Run. Try to get the nymph between Cernd and Faldorn. Faldorn will try to attack Cernd and she will ignore the nymph.
g) From behind the nymph, cast Shilelagh. Attack from safe distance behind the nymph.
h) Cernd's Shilelagh + nymph's magic = end of Faldorn.
Why is that when Cernd or Jaheira shapeshift they only get their current hitpoints, battered and bruised from the continuing fight, but when Faldorn does it she changes status from 'near death' to 'uninjured'? I have fought her four times and each time she has wrested victory from the jaws of defeat.
Seriously kids, I work in a cancer department. Whatever you do, don't get cancer of the colon (I realise there's little you can do to actively *stop* it), its fatal. Now sleep well tonight won't you...
