Blast from the Past

Post by Ranger00 »

I've been playing BG II for a little over a month and ran across Wave and my second time through got Black Razor. Both exceptional weapons,,and then it hit me..these are two weapons from one of the better AD&D modules..although I can't be for sure...I think it was S2..Return to White Pume Mountain or something. As I recall there were 3 great weapons in that module..anyone remember the third weapon? Also I think Wave was actually a trident. And Black Razor was this incredible looking sword...anyways...I found it interesting that someone at Bio saw these items and brought them in BG II, as the module itself is rather old. I havent played PnP AD&D in years, but I remember those weapons and the fun we had in getting them...and then losing them. Was the third weapon a hammer?

You got to remember that the module was brand new by the time the Interplay team played trough it. ;-) As far as I've understood they add most of the items, creatures and persons in the game on the basis on how cool they thought they were when they played AD&D as teenagers.

Yup, and Crom Faeyr is the hammer that kills giantkin in one blow, the third artifact in the White Plume Mountains.

The third weapon was Whelm (a war hammer)
Had some simularities to Crom, but not quite as powerful. It also had some interesting "down sides".

I think each of the three weapons had some sort of side effect. I think the hammer's was fear of the great outdoors..or something.
And the thanks for refreshing my memory on the hammer Image I was speaking to my brother the other day about these weapons being in the game and he was shocked...he thought the module was from Greyhawk Campaign.
