When Do I get to go back to athkatla?

I went to brynnlaw, to spellhold, back to brynnlaw, to a traitors ship, and now the city-of-caverns, and almost underdark. When do I get to athkatla bcause i have the pieces of the gesens bow and the wave

Keep them safe in your bag of holding. You have a big chapter ahead of you in the Underdark

You'll eventually exit from there (with some new goodies) and be able to revisit Athkatla.

Im in the underdark, and so far I have 2 problems.
1. there is this ball thing where i release a soul and a lich comes and kills me.
2. Drows are so damn hard to kill with their high defense

Indeed, drows are hard to kill, with their magic resistance and Adamantite armour and weaponary. Their mages are just as vulnerable to hack and slash though. I think I used combinations of Haste, Protection from Evil, Strength of One and just charged them, leaving my mages to bring down their defences.

#1 That's the toughest encounter that machine spawns. Try the other facets.
#2 Many of the encounters happen in set places. You can prepare with spells and summons.

Spoilers ahead- There are lots of 'face' like things on the sides of the machine and each can be used. Each spawns a different creature. Some helpful or like the lich, some not.

Check the GB walkthrough to see what each side of the machine does.

*nods* Drow armour is good. Just stash your old daylight armour in your Bag of Holding. There will be an opportunity to use Drow armour again in TOB. Though you'll have to pick up new stuff in that particular place.

I liked to put the drow armors on too.Then the chars will blend in to the drow city.

Why? I don't recall mages being able to cast while wearing it. Am I misremembering?

You can cast spells in drow chain, not plate

well, my characters file is done with. i was in the mind flayer city, and i rested and solufein came and told me they figured out who i am cuz i took too long.now all the drows are against me.

Don`t rest then and go directly there.Surely you got atleast 1 heartif you are doing the quest.

I've had that before, though from Phaere. That was when I was getting reagants from the elder races. As lonelypilgrim says don't rest (or load an earlier save) and go back to Ust Natha to continue the main quest. Go back to looting later.

Well its not that easy. I dont have an earlier save, and I was on that mission where i have to save mother matrons daughter. now I wont be able to do quests, like get the eggs back...man...its so messed up

If you were in the Minder Flayer City does that mean you have already saved the daughter?

If so, haste your party and maybe turn them invisible then rush them back to the city to meet with Solaufein the market, I believe.
