mod questions (TuTu?)
Being a new/old player, i have rediscovered the greatness that is BG. When i first played there was a lack of mods, in fact i can't remember anything more than a fix. I was also to young to realize the greatness of the game, but that is a different subject altogether.
I was wondering what this TuTu thing is? Is it a fix or is it a mod? I was also wondering what you would advise for downloads? Are there any particularly good or bad ones? Also i was looking through all of the mods and i was wondering if i should install both the fixpacks and what seems to be the text fix or just one of the two?
thanks for the help.

TuTu is a mod that will transform your BG1 into BG2.That means you will have all the graphic changes and there won`t be a pause when you continue from BG1 to BG2.It will just go on smoothly. If you decide to install this, what is very recomened if you got both BG1,ToSC and Bg2(ToB).
Also it is required that you take the TuTu fix pack. That will remove most of the bugs.I also recomend highly the banter pack. Then you can choose the Bg2 portraits for your game and the chars will talk and interact with the party.
The G3 tweak pack is also good, because you can install things such as 100% learn spell and no helmet animations.
I also had the G3 annevercary pack, but i didn`t quite find out that what it did,or i forgot it.
Anyway...If you decide to install it,please tell me if you get stuck in the installing process.

Whoops
Lonelypilgrim is thinking of the wrong mod, at least on part of the description.
Tutu is a mod that requires both BG1 & BG2, and allows you to play BG1 with the bg2 engine.
Advantages of the BG2 engine are:
Greater resolution
More dialogue abilities (for modders delight, no changes initially)
The "Tab" key, with Throne of Bhaal installed (my favorite)
Unfortunately, the transition from BG1 to BG2 is nonexistant. BG1 ends normally, and you must uninstall (or have multiple installs set up) in order to proceed to BG2.
Still, it's very well done, and I highly recommend it.
Pick Tutu up at http://www.pocketplane.net
BG Trilogy is a mod that allows you to BG1, its expansion, then BG2, then its expansion, all as one long game.
A great idea, but I'm a little dubious about its origins. It has the reputation of being buggy, but I can't confirm/deny that.
If you want to try BGT, I'd wait 'til the weidu version is out of beta.
The beta version can be seen @ http://iegmc.mirror.intermedia.com.sg/bgt-weidu/

That's the part you're mistaken about, Mr Pilgrim...
It's no big deal. I think we can all agree that Tutu is the way to go, though. Transition aside, it's a marvelous mod. In my experience, it's also completely bug-free! The install is fairly tricky, though. But you'll know immediatly if you made a mistake, the program will just fail and you'll have to try again.

You might want to check with other players regarding TuTu, though. I haven't used it, but there have been numerous comments in the past on the BG2/SoA forum about bugs.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I think i had to unistall it 5 times before i was pleased with it.So post all your problems here and we will solve them! Also i didn`t see horrible bugs else. There was some interesting thing however...at some parts of the game the screen went blue. Then when i got rid of the problem, almost all dialogs were gone. This ofcourse can be a computer flaw.

If you try TuTu be very careful to read all the installation instructions carefully. From what I gather, a large percentage of those who experience bugs have made some mistake in the installation process.
Also, while i would probably recommend trying TuTu, you'll need to make sure that other mods you try along with it are TuTu friendly. It's not compatible - for obvious reasons - with all other BG mods.
By most accounts, TuTu is a remarkable effort, though. So, it's definitely worth the trouble.

Many people don't realise that the installation program HAS to be run from the BGII directory, which is an easy mistake to make.
Of course, installing BGTutu stops someone from playing BGII at the same time- unless they have a seperate installation of the game.

TuTufix errors on mine with perfect install, but I realised how to fix it and it all works fine and good. And I think that the kits may unbalance it but that makes it more realistic in a way, will you pick a kit that is very good at the beginning but less good later on in Bg2, or pick a kit that is potentially dreadful at Bg1 (sorcerer doesnt look great to me) but really pays dividends after? Its interesting.
