Ming Must Die, Help Please

Post by Teligerence »

Solved

Figured out the below question, Thanks. Need help in the Ming Must Die Quest. I am currently at the center room where the water mill is and the red door with the bar across it. I cannot figure out how to move the bar from the door. I get an icon showing moving the door but when I hit the "use" key, nothing happens. How does the bar to the door get moved. Please advise, thanks.

You don't actually press the "use" key for the move icon. What you do is stand sideways at the door so that the bar for the wooden plank is on your chest, then just walk forwards until the plank doesn't go any further. If it doesn't move at all you're facing the wrong direction. After this the plank will be out of the way and the door will be able to be opened.

Hope that helps you. Good luck.

Just to pre-empt the inevitable reply, if that doesn't work, try saving your game and re-starting - you may need to do it more than once. Failing all else, set the no-clip cheat and just walk through the door. Search the threads for instructions on how. It's been done a lot. That door is the source of a lot of hassle.

Yeah, I think he said he figured it out. This is among the most frequently asked questions on this board. So, you might search around a bit if you need more information.

This is off topic... but why do I seem to be the only one who did not have a problem with that door? If anyone else DIDN'T please tell me so I can stop feeling so lonely.

None here. I actually spent more time running around up top thinking I was missing something because I was certain they wouldnt just want me to jump over the rafter. After about 30min, I finally decided there were no stairs and jumped.

I had the same problems with the doors, they just wouldn't budge. No matter how many times I would restart the game, I kept getting stuck in the same spot. Yrthwydandfyre suggested using the noclip command in the console. It worked perfectly for me and as I promised, I would do my very best to let other people know about the noclip trick. MalaksBane said that it may not work for everyone, it may be true but "nothing ventured, nothing gained."
I hope that the noclip command will help everyone if they are ever stuck in the Ming Must Die quest ;)

the trick where you save right in front of the door and then reload worked fine for me
