Try setting ViconiaRomanceActive to 2.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

To get a romance going in ToB, it has to be at a certain point already.

Since you're not playing through SoA, setting the RomanceActive to 2 won't work alone.

Lovetalk has to be set to a certain number for the romance in ToB to trigger. Problem is, I don't know what that number is (I think it's 50 for Jaheira). Since the max for Viconia is much less that Jaheira's, start with, say, 25, and work your way up (unless someone else knows the exact number).

Actually, that's not true. Once you start ToB, the game stops referencing LOVETALK and starts using ExpLoveTalk, instead. The only time LOVETALK gets checked is when you first bring a SoA party into ToB, to determine whether to set the RomanceActive variable to 2. Setting ViconiaRomanceActive to 2 in ToB does work. I just tested this with a new PC created in ToB.

*rolls eye* Pretty much all the NPC you can have in your party are damaged emotionally. Except Edwin and Korgan and Jan. I think the programmers might have had Valyger for the girls if they had more time. He fits the profile of the L tigger candidates. You know single, lonely, confused, looking for support. But as it is... the guys are stuck with the elves and the girls with the whining arrogent surprisingly useful fighter/cleric human.

Good point, trunks. Too bad Sarevok is your brother; otherwise he'd make an interesting romance candidate for an evil PC. Even better, though, would be if Viconia fell for him (as she might, he's a big stud). Then Viconia could give you this speech about how surface-dwellers know nothing about love, and how a powerful female like her should really have a much bigger harem than just two half-gods. That would be a blast!

This might be slightly off-topic...so forgive me if it is, but I think a big problem is that the programmers simply ran out of time.

As I see it, there were supposed to be five romances for the guys and 3-5 for the girls.

Given Nalia's proposal after the keep and the way she talks at you, I sincerely believe that *originally* Nalia was also supposed to be a romantic interest (triggered by saving her keep....followed perhaps by a marriage of convenience if fighter type). I also note that no romance possibility exists for dwarves, halflings, or half-orcs (w/o the patch). I also think that Mazzy was supposed to be a romantic interst there...and I do know that Vic was supposed to romance half-orcs.

For the gals, in addition to his holiness Anomen (just ask him), I also think (as mentioned before) that Valgyr was supposed to be a romantic interest. I just *don't* see Minsc being a Romantic interest....but I DO think that Edwin was supposed to be as well. Other candidates include Cernd (who has his own fair share of problems) and possible Jan.

These are only opinions and guesses on my part based on their personas as compared with the personas of those characters that DO have romantic options. In all, I think that the programmers got rushed, and the romance sections took the brunt. [I also dislike the idea that the ladies only have one choice....and a not-very-palatable one at that.]
