CF is a katana, if you're playing mages you'll have trouble hitting. Summon some creature so that you can have them tank you for a few seconds while you disable the shielding magics the dragons have, and lower their high magic resistances.

Then, if you have a good tank, the CF can be a good way to hack and slash dragons on your way, just be carefull, health levels tend to go down very quickly when they atack.

Don't send all your creatures into the fray however, as dragons (and liches) will cast death spell and kill them all in one go. Send one first and wait for it to be death spelled, then send in the others.

Summoned creatures will be killed while Gated creatures not, so you can exploit that too...

Well my character is a Assassin using it. Something wierd happened to me though. I went to see Mook, and when she got killed, I used the lightning strike technique, and the Cowled Wizards attacked me. I had the Liscence, so why did they attack me?

But thats off topic. Should I use like Pierce Magic and then hack and slash the dragon?

And How many dragons are there?

I think that Breach will prove much more useful than pierce magic but in my opinion, you don`t need them at all.Maybe breach for stoneskin and prot.from magic weapons(don`t know if they tend to cast this)
As for the dragons-as far as i know:
The red dragon,Windspearhills
The shadow dragon Umar hills
The black dragon Suldanessar
The silver dragon Underdark
The next may or might not be mod created.

An another black dragon Small Teeth pass
Purple dragon Small Teeth pass
Brown dragon Small Teeth pass and/or Suldanessar

All dragons and whereabouts are written in black...just in case when some people don`t want to know...
So...without mods i`d say 4-5,with the mods i got:7-8.

Firkraag is the toughest dragon in SoA. I think he's worth the most experience (of the dragons) maybe 64000XP.

Wands of Spellstrike from Watcher's Keep provide both Breach and Pierce Magic spells but in most cases you should only need Breach against dragons.

But he can drain your whole level series with a single breath if you're low level. So its insta kill. Gotta be extra carefull with them shadow dragons.

Still,I belive that the Black Dragon is the strongest. It was such a long time ago that i forgot his name...
Shadow dragons are weakest,in my opinion. The good ol` magics missle tactic never fails.

Yeah the shadow dragon is probably the weakest, I managed to take him down with level 11 Nalia, Viconia and my PC (beserker, grandmastery in halberds). The other three were running around in circles doing nothing :D

I just wanted to congratulate Berethor on his victory over Firkraag, and to commend him especially for accomplishing the feat at such a low level :) . I'll tell you that he is one of the toughest dudes in the game so if you can beat him, you're doing damn well. As for the shadow dragon, he isn't as tough as Firkraag but he's sneakier. He uses more spells that don't just cause direct damage and his poison breath will disrupt your party because you'll have to be removing the poison all of the time. He also just as a whole uses more spells, stuff like locust swarm. Keep lots of dispel's handy and crack down on his magical shields. Same strategies apply for Firkraag though, and if you beat Firk you can beat the Shadow dude.

"Be bitter you're not going to stay that way."
"Be glad you're even alive."
"Be furious you're going to die."
"Things could be much worse."
"They could be one hell of a lot better."

I also agree that the Black may very well be the toughest of the dragons, regardless of what I've said in any earlier posts (may have claimed Firk was the toughest, I don't know) and had the toughest time with him. However you don't fight him until really late in the game, so you should have the goods to deal with him when the time comes.

I know you're skeptical, so I will tell you everything
I was a level 13 assassin using flametounge
Minsc was a level 9 ranger using heartseeker with arrow +2
Keldorn was a level 10 inquisitor using hallowed redeemer
Aerie was in the back using magic missile
haer' dalis was in the back using magic missile
jaheira was behind him using club +3, blackblood

my 5 animals(all bears) were pummeling him from the front, also as a distraction
surprisingly, bears did good damage

at the beginning I was using tansherons bow, just to keep alive

does that answer your question?

and thanks for the complements

oh and since i was new to the game it was on easy but still

Don't play on easy, it will give you only 50% experience and make the game even harder in the long run. I think it's meant for really tough battles that the player just can't beat, not for a whole campaign :) .

Some new information including the number of dragons also this means that it is a tiny --Spoiler--

Just read a readme at http://www.weidu.org/tactics/README-Tactics.txt
and found out that there are actualy 5 dragons in SoA.
But if you use the Tactic mod then all together there will be 8dragons.

Easy!!

It´s easy to kill Firkraag. All you need is a bow and some arrows that can do some damage on him. You get his attention by making him mad (attack him) then you go back up the stairs. Then you boost the character that got the bow (Fireresistent). You go down to the cells where the prisenor was held, now Firkraag will stand there. He will be to far away to cast any spells, so just stand on your spot and shot you arrows at him. Firkraag will be abel to breath fire on you so be carefull. After a time (short) he will be a dead dragon!!
