Need MAJOR HELP w/ Chpt 2 Bug/Glitch (spoilers)

Post by Galuf the Dwarf »

Well, every time I beat Lysara, Nathaniel disappears, no questions asked. He can be there before I do battle, but when it's over, he's gone without a trace.

The thing is, without him around, I can't go any further in the game. As much as I've heard I can skip over that with DaleKeeper 2, I'm concerned about the experience I'll miss out on.

What do I do? Does anyone suggest I use the console. If so, I've never used it (or activated it), so I'd need some help in such.

Please, I'm asking this because this quite an enjoyable game and I'd wish to continue with it like I used to be able to. :(

1) I remember checking the whole temple. Nowhere. Besides, I remember when I used to play this (which was on a Windows 98 or 2000 computer), he always stayed in his cell. From what I gather from the guides, that's where he's supposed to be the whole time.

2) Yep. Patched or unpatched, same thing.

I once used the console to add experience...

but then again thats when I stopped playing the game! As long as you set limits it would be ok I guess. But its a slippery slope. The game becomes unfun...

PS - I've had nathaniel move around on me too! I forget where he went though. try looking at walkthrough gamefaqs etc

PPS - I think he is looking for his things? Is he in one of the rooms with chests? 1 in top floor 2 in bottom floor (one you get to through the painting)?

Nothing in those guides about him wandering. Nothing.

I looked at the guides too! Sorry but couldn't find any mention.

Did you have any saves before entering the temple? maybe saving before sherincal?

Were the group of prisoners north of nathaniel there? I know that people are getting executed... maybe Nat got sacrificed (horrors)!

Try talking to Oswald (or maybe even Zach). Maybe Nat wandered back to Oswald?

Nathaniel can't get sacrificed but I think I did read something about him moving somewhere else if it is his turn. Somewhere in the temple, I would have expected though, I'll check later.

What happens if you talk to Oswald? I would give that a go.

I doubt much would happen. If the Repairing spell has already been cast, then he will say it needs more time. Nathaniel shouldn't disappear until the Ice Wall has been broken though. Oswald will also go once that has happened.

You could go look for the rest of Nathaniel's belongings and see if that triggers his reappearance.

I remember trying that. No dice. :(

Brynn: I tried that as well. Nathaniel wasn't there and Oswald didn't have any special reaction of any kind.

Does anyone know how to operate the (CLUA?)console? Anyone?

myrophine: Did you read my original post? Nathaniel was there right before the battle, and completely disappears afterwards.

I don't know how exactly to operate the console...

BUT look at gamefaqs. (google it). Then search the gamefaqs site for icewind dale 2. Then it gives a menu... You should select cheats, etc...

I looked in all the walkthroughs but they didn't have a problem.

I know for a fact that I had that happen too. I found him eventually (but seriously i'd just give myself some xp with the console).

But be careful. The console is addictive!

Trust me, I only use the console when I have NO CHOICE. This situation is one of them.

Oh, and for the record, I have GameFAQs in my favorites.

In my strategy guide, it says Nathaniel flees to a room just east of the main entrance. It's covered by a secret door.

Yeah, I read that a bit earlier here. The problem is, where exactly is it on this map?

try the room to the right of #1 (and search for a secret door to the south)

Yeah, the 'treasure trove at the beginning' as I know it. Gotcha.

Let us know if you find Nat. I'd like to keep this in mind as I forgot from last time it happened to me.
