my toolbar for the characters and their action buttons have dissappeared. Can anyone. this makes sh@t reral diffilcult.

Look at what buttons do what. For example I know the "H" buttons default setting is to hide the interface (portraits, quickslots, etc).
I think you can access what buttons do what somewhere in options. Just hunt around.

Right click then you should get options to change icons??

Y should also work, that brings back/removes parts rather than the whole interface (as pressing H does).
Check the key settings in the in-game options if this doesn't work.
