HighLordDave, forgive me if I skip over the RL examples you gave since I feel that the alignment system in AD&D is to restrictive for RL.

If a Lawful Good person views those who make the laws as usurpers or as unfit to rule, then they can rationalise putting themselves outside the bounds of a corrupt regime. Our own country was founded on those same principles which led to an armed insurrection. So if your character views the Cowled Wizards as an evil entity and the government of Athkatla as their kowtowing puppets, then a Lawful Good character would be well within their alignment in killing them whenever they could get away with it.

Considering that the protagonist never visited Athkatla (or even Amn for that matter) before, how would a Lawful Good Character judge the Cowled Wizards as an evil entity.

furthermore, casting Cloudkill in a spot, you know cowled wizards will dimension door or teleport too, is hardly considerd Lawful good (maybe, if you feel they are an wrongdoing entity as a whole, casting cloudkill in this matter could be considered lawful evil :)

BTW getting the glasses of identification is a good idea (forgot to mention that)
The door magic mouths "Touch me and die"
Mage (int 18): "Yeah, right..."
The door: (Power Word Kill)
Mage (int 18): Dies....

Ok here is what you should do with your money.
You're lawfull good so your rep is up there and your prices are down there. Go to adveture mart, and buy shield of Balduran from diedre and use it whenever fighting beholders unless you want to get owned like a little girl.
I think everyone can agree on that?
Trap? What trap!? Ah shi....!!!!

@Tharan, if we could agree with it, we wouldn't have already posted a variety of positions. ;)

And I'm still trying to figure out the phrase, "owned like a little girl." I don't suggest you come on to any women who don't want your attentions, or you may quickly find that "little girl" is a sixth dan in aikido. :D
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Yep, get a license to spell, buy a lot of good stuff, and do some more quests - Imoen can wait... if you got a lot of good stuff and you and your team are a high level-experoenced, get Imoen out...

Or... don't get a licence. Kill the cowled ones for loot, cash and XP, plus the fact that they have no inherent right charging you for your expenditures of magical energy. Plus they're arrogant and powerful, and those always make the best kills. :D

Admittedly not the most Lawful Good approach, but think of what your party members would say.

Korgan... Let's not get into details, but I'm sure he'd approve. :D
Nalia's a Mage and would need a licence if it wasn't for you, so you save her 5K to donate to "the poor".
Jaheira would likely approve of this overthrow of a lopsided and unnatural system.
Minsc wouldn't have too much objections booting nasty wizards.
Aerie should hate the Cowled ones' guts, since they lock up (ooh, the trauma) spellcasters. What does Aerie do besides spellcasting..?

If you hadn't paid for the damn thing already, I'd suggest you'd put it to a vote. ;)

Ok I have defeated the DeArnise Hold quest, thats why I have so much money guys. Basically, the sling of everard is out of my price range, although it may be just my limit if I don't get a license and sell these things I picked up fighting in the Den of The Seven Vales. I have no idea who Bhodi is, but I have many many quests lined up to do next:
(1)Book of Kaza
-Initiate Unseeing Eye Quest
-Meet Valen's Mistress
(2)Unseeing Eye Quest
-Trade off Korgan for Keldorn(good move?)
(3)Keldorn Quest
(4)City Gates Quest
(5)Windspear Hills Quest
(6)Temple District Visit for quests
Maybe that helps give you guys a good idea of what I will be coming up against in the not to distant future,
Horatio

You don't need the license. Clerics and druids can cast their spells without it. Vampires are not a problem - use your tank to distract them while your druid unleashes Call Lightning and your cleric turns them. Here's how I've dealt with the Cowled Enforcers: First my thief lays 4-5 traps. Then everyone in the party except the mage moves away. The mage casts a spell, waits for the enforcers to show up, then leaves as the traps go off. My party then returns to loot the bodies.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

I vote don't buy the "license" since the program writers are implying that it is a bribe("monetary sacrifice"). Any Lawful good character would recognize that in an instant.
If as a lawful good character you needed further proof of the Cowled Wizards corruption, check the movie showing Irenicus' and Imoen's "trial". Not exactly the fairest of proceedings.

I am not buying the license as it goes against my lawful good ideals - or so you guys tell me :P Anyway, I still need to know what is good stuff to purchase! I figure I am going to drop Korgan for Keldorn, but as fighting units who is superior? I really want to implement the happy script but don't understand how to install it, could someone please tell me exactly what I should install given my party, and the fact that I am interested in the level 2 romance? Thanks,
Horatio

I purchased the glasses of identification and have already found them very useful. I then went off to Waukeens Promenade looking for Warez but didn't see anything I was sure I wanted to buy. Interestingly I got into a fairly difficult fight on the second floor of the Den of the Seven Vales, but I came off with some pretty good loot, although I don't understand the usefulness of that cloak of invisibility. Anyways, I still have 36000 - 15,000 = 21,000 gp! Thanks for advice,

Keldorn is better than Korgan, if for no other reason than he's not a disruptive influence on your group and he won't storm off if your reputation is high. On the other hand, I think Valygar and Minsc are superior to both.

Save up for the Sling of Everard. Sell your little brother's left kidney if you have to (being mean to younger siblings is perfectly permissible to any alignment; that's why the gods made you older). It's worth Akebono's weight in gold.

The Staff of Rynn +4 (from Adventurer's Mart) is good too.

Recharge Wands of Cloudkill and Monster Summoning if you have any money left over.
Jesus saves! And takes half damage!

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.

Yes they are, try and sell them all in one place so later on (when you have the money to spare) you can buy them back. As long as you have one charge left in a wand, you can sell it and buy it back fully charged.

Wands are some of the best equipment you can have, especially the Wands of Cloudkill and Monster Summoning. Cloudkill is one of the most effective spells for two reasons: 1) almost no monster is completely immune to its effects (although magic resistance will block some of the damage) and 2) you can hit people with it outside of your fog of war and they won't attack you, they just take it.

And who doesn't need flunkies to take an arrow for you or be the first in line for a mind flayer psionic assault? That's what Wands of Monster Summoning are for.

With a wand you often get 50 or 100 spells that have no casting time and can't be disrupted if you take damage. Plus, as our friend Weasel says, when you sell them and buy them back they will be fully charged.

Buy it anyway. It's +5! It doesn't require ammunition! Sell both of your little brother's kidneys if you have to. Unless you're leaving for Chapter 3 right now, don't worry about the 15,000 GP; you'll earn it back soon enough.
