If I gotta dual then what level should I dual over at and which should i start as.. Like should i start assasin then dual over to scorcerer or should i start scorcerer and dual over to assasin? And what level should I do this?? Thankee!!

A sorcerer can neither multi or dual class. You could, however, start out as an Assassin and dual to a mage. Also, remember that only humans can dual class. :)

two snags.

a) sorc can not be part of a dual class (or multi) if you are a sorc thats all you are.

b) why dual from assassin? it's easily the worst thief kit for a dual, is poison a few times per day important enough to handicap all your other thieving abilities?

I can agree to that. You should be a Swashbuckler instead.

you forget that an assasin gets up to 7x backstab multiplier.

yeah i know that, and i like the assassin as a single class char, but this is for a dual.

are you gonna keep the assassin until you reach backstab x7 then dual? if not you are wasting your time w/ the assassin (unless for roleplay reasons it's real important)

Okay then i guess i can't do thief/scorcerer. I want to dual so which thief kit should I get? I like assasin but ya'll make me a lil unsure. And what level should I dual over to mage at? Thankyou muy muy mucho : )

p.s. If ya'll are feeling generous..what kind of stats should i be shooting for on this character?

there are a few ways to go about the dual:

a) the min-max take xp cap of 2,950,000 find max level for mage any xp left over is max for the thief. tob changes this. 2950000 - 2625000 = 325,000 = 11th level thief.

b) dual when you want, play until you feel that your thief skills are good enough to stay that way. may be sooner may be later.

for stats you'll need high dex & int 17 or 18 (i'm not sure if there are any other required stats)

for a kit i would go with one that gives you the full allotment of thief points / level since this is a dual (and i assume you want this char to be the party thief)
plain thief & swashbucker are good choices, but swash can't backstab. as i said above if playing an assassin is important to you it can be done, if you want to go for it.

Before doing any of this, first you should decide what your point of playing BGII is: Do you want to be a power-player, or do you want to be a role-player.

Once that's done, choose your thief kit. I still love a traditional thief, although swashbucklers are fun. If you enjoy setting winning with ambushes, though, you'll want to try the bountyhunter. Very powerful characters.

For stats, there are two sides to look at: You'll need at least a 15 dex and 17 int to become this character, but think how the stats impact the rest of the game.

There's never a drawback of having high str, dex, and con. The most constitution you can use (as a non-fighter) is 16. Str isn't that important, either, as your character gets a plethara of strength-altering devices.

So, decide what you're playing for, and go for it <smiles>

I know ya'll are gunna hate me for this but...

I think Im just gunna go with Assasin and not dual him to mage. There are plenty of mage npcs to choose from and mage is a lotta clicking. I think if i choose Assasin I will get to have fun with the 7x backstab and enjoy roleplaying it too. Thanks all for the advice and I'm sorry I exhausted your fingers for nothing : )
