Growing Familiars

Post by StillSouth »

Hey guys,

The other day a friend of mine tried to tell me that if you keep a familiar out of your pack for long enough it actually grows.

Now i found this a little hard to swallow, but i just thought i'd check.

o has anyone had this happen or was he talking out of his ass?

I haven't heard if they grow or not, but it would be wonderful if they did!

I have never gotten to use familiars, as I haven't played a magic user for my main character. If they do grow, that may be incentive to try a fighter/wizard in the future.

Er, I've heard nothing about that. Are you sure your friend isn't confusing "Baldur's Gate" with his "Gigapet"?

No, no. He said it happened to him but took a very long time.

/South felt his leg being pulled.

The longest i had one out was from the First dungeon, then i did almost every quest, and i meen HEAPS, and it was my first time through so they took me forever, all the way to just outside the doors to the thieves guild before i wipe them out for bhodi, and still nothing. And that was many hours of real time and game time.

But i can't see a giant rabbit running around with -4 armour class and some big ass paws. Or the grand daddy of ferrets being able to slip his 2' claw in someone's back pocket and not be spotted.

But your own Ass-kicking full size psuedo dragon would be cool.

I have had a farmiliar from the first moment I stepped out of Irenicus' cell.

I always has my dragon out (luckily he hasn't died yet...don;t ask what happens when I get hit my a fireball or Horrid Wiltering 'RELOAD')

He has not grown at all.

It would be very cool if your Farmiliar grew into a full size dragon.

hmmmmm, could be a possibility, maybe thats why there is an additional slot for a picture icon on the left bar...hmmmmmm... :D

Nope famliars dont 'grow' sorry. Bioware messed up in my opinion by not allowing familiars to get XP and progress with the main character...

Also a way has been found to add new familiars for the characters that will move to other areas, if any one is interested I will explain further. It involves Hex editing Baldur.gam and some minor scripting, I added a bear familiar for a ranger using this method.

I strongly agree--South is having his leg pulled.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
