how does wondrous recall work?

Post by hermit »

Jaheria can finally cast a 6th level spell. after some consideration I decide that Wondrous Recall would be the most useful for getting a little extra healing out of her. But when I cast it I get all the lights and and noise, but I'm not getting the recalled spells. Am I not doing something right? Or is there a glitch in my game.

If memory serves me well, WR works like a re-memorization of the last two spells you did. Please confirm. :)

if that were true i'd have gotten my last 2 good berries back, after some examination, i'm not getting any of my previously cast spells back.

This is purely guesswork but here goes. I think the game might decide that "goodberry" is a Druid spell and might not recall it. try with a just a priest spell( cur elight wounds for example). If not then I'm at a loss.

From the tests I have done, it recalls Cleric spells well enough, going for the highest 'used' slots, and preferring the top-left ones. It would not recall Mage spells (too bad, Aerie). I haven't tested Druid spells, but from seeing the above I would assume they are also left out.

Wow that really isn't what I was expecting when I went to cast the spell. I was pretty sure that it would have no effect on Mage spells, but not to include druid spells either really throws me for a loop. So now I have to sort the priest spells into druid and cleric list so that I will know what wondrous recall won't recall. OUCH!!

I think I'd rather cheat the game so that all 1st-5th priest spells for the caster are accommidated by Wondrous Recall, and the top two are recalled. Now if someone will point me in the right direction for that cheat I'll be on my way. LOL.

Hey, uh... is "Goodberry" any good? I don't think I've ever used it. It sounds stupid in the description...what do you use it for that other healing spells or potions don't do?

I only used goodberry as an example, perhaps I should have said call lightning. Although of the level 2 druid spells, I think it is the most useful spell. It is used to have an additional 25 hit points of healing a day, (5 good berry spells 5 hit points each), that you can save as long as you like, I've got about 50 saved in a chest at the planar sphere like money in the bank.

I know it might sound silly to some, but I don't like resting the party until someone is tired. So I am usually looking for healing spells at the end of the day.

What do I have to do to edit wondrous recall so that it can recall druid spells as well as cleric spells?

It already seems to be set to 'priest' spells. The only other option (with Near Infinity at least) is 'wizard' spells. You absolutely sure Druid stuff is not included under 'priest' spells?

OK

from experience I can say that it is possible to regain druid spells through wonderous recall(iron skins and insect plauge ) being my most used example.

also from experience Wonderous recall seems to restore the 2 highest level spells which you have cast - of which you have no more memorised. I have never been able to restore spells if i have more of the same still memorised(even if I have just cast 3 of said spell). I have als never reagained a 1st or second level spell(but then i've never checked i tend to use it for higher lvl spells )

Dimension is right, after testing the spell further, I discovered that if any copies of a spell you want are still memorized they will not be recalled. And if nothing meets that criteria it won't recall anything. I did find out that it will recall 1st and 2nd level spells unless higher spell slots are spent.
Thanks for the interest everyone.

Also I discovered something that will be considered an exploit.

By manipulating the memorized spells you can acquire any two (including the same spell twice), priest spells 1st-5th level, if you origionally memorized them when you rested or not, as long as you include them to your memorized spell list and remove any higher level spent spells you don't want. Pretty handy if you need a Harper's Call but failed to learn it at your last camp.

@hermit6115: Nice exploit. I'll add that to the next upload of my Spells Reference, if you don't mind. :)
