Game frozen

Post by tiredparent »

I've played all the BG series before on my old PC. I've just finished BG1&ToSC on my 'new' PC (Athlon Processor) running XP. Installed BG2 SoA and it freezes when trying to start actual game, ie after character generation/import. re-installed, tried it with and without patch still freezes (whole PC) every time. Perversely it works fine on my bog standard laptop (P3) also running XP. ANY IDEAS/SOLUTIONS?

Drivers?

Try updating to a more recent video driver...

Try running w/o 3d acceleration

What settings are you running the game at. People have reported problems when running it at high resolutions, so if that's the case try lowering it. Otherwise, make sure that the minimum cache is available, and that you haven't lowered it in settings. Sometimes games don't work on certain computers, I hope that's not the case for you.

In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

Thanks for the replies!
I have plenty of room on the harddrive and the cache is fine also. I have a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX400 video card, the CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and I've got 512MB of RAM. I am running the game at 800x600 resolution. Should be enough - it runs Neverwinter Nights etc.........
