Get Out of Jail Free...
So we know the PC was released from jail under the emperor's orders... But we have no idea why the character was incarcerated in the first place...
So what do people think? Why was the hero to be placed behind bars?

My current character was caught stealing an enchanted ring from her teacher of Basic Magical Theory of Simple Conjurations 101 at school. She only wanted to ‘borrow’ the ring for a while so that she could study its properties. But that stupid Dunmer for a teacher wanted the authorities to throw the book at her, so off she went to jail. She’s pretty angry that she spent long enough in jail to forget all but a simple Fireball and Summon Ancestral Ghost spell. Though while in jail she did gain an appreciation for what a length of lead pipe could do to a basic humanoid skull, and she was also afforded the opportunity to learn about the fundamental workings of locks.
Since coming to Morrowind, she has devoted herself to all things Imperial. If she ever runs afoul of the law again, at least she will have friends in high places. She is also very grateful to the Emperor for springing her from jail (even though he dumped her on this island that seems to be crawling with Dunmer), so she is willingly doing the tasks set before her by the Blades organization, though she is taking her own sweet time. She rather likes the idea that she might have a hand in shaking the foundations of the Dunmer’s religion.

That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.
My character was an apprentice Vampire Hunter and a collecter of powerful items. He got busted by a Legion of Imperial Gaurds while on a hunt for six counts of property damage and possesion of Ebony. He isn't overly fond of the Empire since he's a Redgaurd nor do the dunmer seem to be fond of him. For some reason even when he doesn't have a bounty on him he gets attacked by Ordinators, Hlaalu Gaurds and Redoran Gaurds. He spends most of his time traveling from Ruin to Ruin vanquishing the evil souls that dwell there and looting them, he occasionally has a brush with other citizens of Vardenfell who have Daedric Weapons and other such powerful items. He is not an acive member of any house or guild though he is about mid way through the ranks of House Telvanni so he could get some enchanted Daedric Armor. He is currently about to embark upon a quest to recover Mehrunes Razor.
Illistil Talyrin was one of the many Dunmer victim to the Empire's raid on Malindrom, an ancient land of the Dunmer. The Empire has been raiding Malindrom for several years trying to conquer the land, however the Dunmer have been successful in fighting off the raids. They were not so successful in the raid on Windfel. Illistil Talyrin and Parilon Nightspell battled bravely but were captured by the overwhelming amount of Imperial Knights. The Emperor soon learned about the importance of Illistil Talyrin and his role on Morrowind so he restored Windfel (I hope that's not a real place) and brought Illistil to Morrowind returning his best friend Parilon to Windfel. Hopefully one day to return to Malindrom and to his town of Windfel.

My character was a street urchin, then climbed his way to the top of a crime syndicate, where he became the most powerful and feared mob boss in the world. After he was incarcerated (they thought he was just a minor theif, he was participating in a training excercise robbing a pawn shop) for 5 years he failed to maintian his skills, and now back inside the real world, he plans to rise to the top of the Telvani house and theives guild, and be more powerful than ever before. He has no plans for Caius Cassadus and the Blades, excpet perhaps expose them to the Great Houses as imperial spies.
@ Cheat.... if you had a death warrant bounty, people will attack you even if it gets cleared up. they will keep attacking you for the rest of the game no matter what, somehting I found out after I got in a nasty little fit and destroyed ghostgate and collected some fine buoyand armiger glass armor...

Haharas was a student at the High Rock college of Alchemy when she went to see her teacher late one night with what she thought was a new discovery involving green lichen. The teacher listened to what she had to say and then sent her home, telling her that it was not a new discovery. Three hours later the Imperial Knights smashed down her door and dragged her off to prison. Apparently the teacher had reported her for stealing alchemy ingrediants, despite the fact that she hadn't been doing it, and claimed the discovery for himself. Nobody believed her word against his, after all he was a Breton Battlemage, and she was just a High Elf apprentice.
Yeah, maybe I need to think more about it, but hey, it works for me.

My character was an apprentice to one of the lands most powerful wizards. As such, he began using certain of his masters prized magical artifacts on the side for his own purposes. For a time, this went undetected, until the wizard began missing his socks. He was at a loss to explain this phenomenon, until he remembered the lore of old that spoke of an alternate plane where the denizens were both diminutive and voracious. Their hunger could only be sated by the socks of the powerful.
Acting on his suspicions, the wizard observed his apprecntice that very night engaging in summoning rituals designed to tear open the rift between the planes and unleashe a horde of Sock Imps upon the land in an attempt to render the powerful unable to use thsier footwear, and thus become ripe for the picking.
However, the wizard intterupted the apprentice at a very critical moment in the casting, and as a result it was not Sock Imps that were summoned, but the vile, loathesome Underwear Gnomes. These Gnomes set to work immediatly stripping the clothing from both wizard and apprentice, finally tearing the underwear from both and carrying thier prize back to their home plane as the portal closed. The wizard was furious, and immediatly kicked my character out. He was picked up a short time later on the charge of indecent exposure.

My character was once a great hunter for the bosmer. But, when he fell in love with the kings daughter, the king exiled him from their society. With nothing but his bow, he ventured into the near-by imperial province. He then decided to go into someones house, just to ask if he could stay for the night, but he found a dead imperial. As he turned the corpse over, some blood got on his hands. He then noticed that the dead imperial was a tax collector. seconds later, what seemed like the entire imperial legion marched through the door. Then they arrested the innocent bosmer, thinking that he was responsible. While in prison, he found out that it was a dunmer that had set him up. He then found out that the emperor was sending him to morrowind, where the dunmer was bileved to be. With a great sence of pride, and honor, he said he would join the blades, so he did. However, he still hunts down that dark-elf that set him up.

My character was caught putting his pants on after sleeping with the King's niece. She was a nice girl, kinda rich, and he was there, trying to make his orphan way of life, stealing here, dating there... then the captain of the guard (she was promised to this guy) got him there, in that unexplainable position. He was arrested, and luckily enough for him the guy dont wanted the King's niece - he prefered fatter women - so he was not killed on prision, but was even mentioned to the king himself as a possible nerevar.

Mine was falsely accused of stealing a rat. Them sentenced to death by animals. He fought through rats shalks clannfear and dremoras before passing out (which is imprerssive since he only had a spoon and a loincloth). Just then a messenger came and said that he was not to be killed the next thing he knew he was in a cart headed for Vvardenfal l

Hmmm... looks like I never provided a story for my own character...
Well, I'll go with my current PC.
She's an Ayeleid (a race of elusive wild elves), and this has had a significant influence on the cause for her incarceration.
When she was small her parents were forced to move to one of the large mainland cities owing to a hunting accident with a kagouti that left both disabled. Her mother, blessed with magics and insights, told fortunes in taverns, while her father, gifted in crafting leather, created beautiful shoes, boots and light armors.
Life was good until the day her father died. Her mother, unable to subsist on simply selling fortunes eventually began to resort to selling herself as she tried to raise her child.
My PC, with her somewhat greenish skin was teased mercilessly as she grew up, especially by the small population of Dunmer living in her city.
Upon reaching adulthood, she found she had inherited her mother's exotic, delicate features, as well as her ability for magic and fortune telling.
Thus, she began to rove about, selling fortunes.
Eventually she ended up in a small village where some of the tavern patrons knew of her mother's "other talents," and assumed that she would comply with their demands. Others in the tavern laughed in derision at her unusual skin.
Years of anger at the teasing, anger at the life her mother had been forced to lead suddenly erupted. Without thinking about it, she released fireball after fireball, killing several of her would be "customers," and torching parts of the tavern's interior. The guards were called, and she was in jail awaiting possible execution when the emperor shipped her off to Vvardenfell.
Now as Nevarine, as Lady of Lokken, and as owner of Solstheim Castle, as well as several other properties, she can't quite believe her dramatic change of fortune, and remains haunted by her past.

My PC was arrested for the simplest of reasons: being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. The might of the empire depended upon forced labor of all sorts. When common soldiers, or rowers, or sailors, or any other group was needed, conscription was employed. Special military agents were quotas, and free hands. Typically, they went after the common sort of citizen, just as they always have, to avoid complications. Inns, harbors, fairs, even checkpoints sufficed. My PC was staying in an inn when such a small group showed up. He dived out a window, straight into the arms of some soldiers that had been stationed outside.
The rest, as they say, was history.

My char was using an alias BOB, he had been hired to preform the mother of all jobs: Assassinate Emperor Uriel Septim, unfortunately, it was a set up; i had been unkowingly hired by Septim himself (he needed soemthing to blame on a member of the Elder COuncil to throw them in Jail) he knew when i was going to ge tin how and where, he had gaurds waiting i was able to lose them kill a few and i actually made it to Septim, and the way i tried to kill him (hint: its a legal punishment for certain heinous crimes now if done chemically) left him feeling so violated that he shipped me off to the farthest place away form him as possible under the pretenses that i was some prophecied dude reincarnated, he hoped i would die in the wilderness cold and alone, but alas he was right, i was the nerevarine, now with the clans and the houses united behind me i am ready to wage my war against septim, claim the throne release the provinces to theier own government and then raise an army of undead and destroy all life... or settle down in a cottage outside of pelagiod with the goddess lord azura and have a happy ever after...
ps. if azuras a lady why is she LORD azura and not Lady Azura?
ps. if azuras a lady why is she LORD azura and not Lady Azura?
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

in a less civilized world....
well, after i saw the beginning cut scene, i assumed that we/me/you (stupid pronouns) were in jail because we were orphaned. ya know, keep the shiny streets clean and free of the less fortunate. i thought that our character had lived almost their entires lives in the prison - that's why we have no skills at the beginning. (bear with me - kind of like the episode on andromeda. the criminal populace has to live on a prison planet and their children, innocent of crimes, wouldn't be allowed to leave the prison. a tainted blood idea.)
my character's names were Myst of the Tal(imperial), Emlyn Toril(breton), and Antice(half-vamp)

My character was a hitman. He was known for being able to do the dirty work and finally got busted. He was going to be sentanced for the rest of his life in jail but at the end, he was saved by the emperor. If he would make a deal, he became a blade for him, and he would be released but any crime would be trouble for him.
He agreed, came over from his home area and is a strong wood elf of the blades, fighters guild, thieves guild (emperor doesn't know about that one), and House Hlaulo.
He's rapidly gaining a reputation for himself. He was an assassin with short blades and light armor. He prefers chitin and can be found in all chitin armor with a chitin shield and a longsword or an emperical shortsword. He has pretty much gained total control of Balmora and everyone likes and respects him. He has destroyed the Commana Tong ring in the city.

my character was caught stealing greater soul gems from the town's finest alchemist, while her house was empty. stealing greater soul gems is a severe disgrace from where he comes from, as most of the thieves in his society think that saltrice and plates and pillows are where true fortune lies. he was banished from his town for dishonoring his people.
