Ranger-Cleric
Is there any truth that Rangers/Clerics get access to Druid spells throughout? For that would be truly overpowered.
Also, out of curiosity am making a druid pc next game bg1 to bg2 and would like to know how many people have made a druid pc in either game? And if anyone does which kit they use, when they convert to bg2 or Tutu.
Thanks for your time, please excuse the spelling/grammar just feeling lazy this morning...
I'm sorry, is your question
a) Do Cleric/Rangers have access to druid spells from the beginning of the game?
b) Do C/Rs aquire access to druid spells during the course of the game?
c) Do C/Rs have access to druid spells AT ALL?
The magic letter would be 'a)' (mainly wondering about ironskin and insect swarm.)
Thanks,
SA

As far as I remember yes ranger/clerics gain access to all druid spells - as both druid and cleric spells are divine the game doesn't seem to distinguish between the different sets when you memorize them. However this information is based on my experience playing a multi-class ranger/cleric from some time ago so I'm unsure as to whether it would apply to a dual-class character. (It's probably safe to wait for a response from one of the "higher powers" here at Gamebanshee.)
Are you playing the game unmodded? And do you have ToB? Otherwise druids are capped at level 15 so single class development might not be the best option. (Personally I'd take a multi-class ranger/cleric over a pure druid )Also, out of curiosity am making a druid pc next game bg1 to bg2 and would like to know how many people have made a druid pc in either game? I'm guessing Val is Valygar and not some multi-player creater character? The main reason is having a 'woodsy' group of minsc, val, jaheria, druid pc, and imoen.
No Cernd?
At the beginning, the C/R has access to priest and druid spells level 1 through 3. So I guess the answer to your question would be: Yes, C/Rs have access to both cleric and druid spells from the beginning of the game (not ironskin initially though, but after levelling up, yeah sure).
Good luck with the woodsies!

No, as your cleric gets to use lvl 5 spells, he will get iron skin even if the ranger hasnt gotten any spells added from him. I am currently playing a C/R in bg1 taking it through ToB. lvl 4/5 C/R has call lightning as a lvl 2 (or 3 not sure) spell even though my ranger hasnt learned any spells from his side yet. So yes, C/R will eventually get insect plague and iron skins.

Thanks for all the feedback, seems that there is still debate as whether those spells are available.
I haven't decided whether to bring Cernd along yet, as I like to go with 4-5 at a time. Though it might be good to have him along for the woodsy theme.
Regardless, I am leaning towards an Avenger PC, as since i will go through bg, the stats will be evened out anyway. Also 21 wis is hard to beat.
Val is indeed Valygar, I have yet to do a mult-player single player game since starting this saga when BG1 First came out (obviously with huge breaks in between)
Once again thanks for all the feedback!

On a side note I will being the entire story line, does Tutu really enhance the graphics as I find BG1 almost painfull to go through.

It uses the BG2 game engine for BG1 (Including kits and dual weild) and is cheesey in my opinion. Also if you don't install it perfectly than you will have to uninstall and reinstall the entire series. But yes it does enhance the graphics. Although try going to options and make it a 32 color depth instead of 16.

If you are playing tutu I highly recommend the BG1 NPC Project Pack over at the Gibberlings 3 but like FireLighter said follow the instructions carefully (first time I tried to install it I didn't )
Also as you are playing a druid check out Wounded Lion's Natural Selection Mod at Sorcerers Palace which offers the addition a number of new features to the druid class including a new kit, the Darkfriend. The divine remix mod at g3 also offers a new druid kit the Oozemaster. I haven't tried either kits so unfortuantely I'm in no position to offer an evaluation.

Also, the tweak pack Ive heard fixes some major and minor problems with tutu so download that too if you plan on playing it.

I've played the game with a multiclassed Cleric/Ranger and yes, you get access to all cleric AND druid spells. I've also played a dual classed Ranger -> Cleric, and you STILL get all cleric and druid spells. It's a bug, and a very powerful one at that.
I really don't like how they handled Druids in BGII, and I highly recommend a C/R (either multi or dual classed) instead. The only reason, IMHO, to play the Druid is if you want the stronghold, have something against playing "good" (Rangers must be Good), or just don't want to exploit a bug (a very valid reason, IMHO).

In addition to the usual Cleric spells that may be cast by Good characters, Cleric/Rangers are also able to cast the following Druid spells:
1st Level: Entangle
2nd Level: Charm Person or Mammal, Goodberry
3rd Level: Call Lightning, Hold Animal, Summon Insects
4th Level: Call Woodland Beings
5th Level: Insect Plague, Ironskins, Pixie Dust
6th Level: Conjure Fire Elemental, Dolorous Decay, Fire Seeds
7th Level: Conjure Earth Elemental, Creeping Doom, Nature's Beauty
If you don't think that Cleric/Rangers should be able to cast 4th-7th Level Druid spells, then don't memorize them and don't cast them. Better yet, use a character editor to remove them from your spellbook. Don't let them stop you from playing a Cleric/Ranger; just use some self-control.

And with a beastmaster the bug gets even bigger. At level 8 you get access to animal summoning 1 as a lvl 1 spell, at level 10 you get A.S.2 as a level 2 spell and at lvl 12 you get access to A.S.3 as a lvl 3 spell (perhaps not as nice as animate dead though). The bestmaster dualed to cleric has very limited weapon choices (sling, staff and club), but he is one heck of a spellcaster. It's also nice to get the familiar.

To resist/limit the cheese factor, I started a BGII game with an avenger druid (though am noticing that they are not lacking in the power department) My R/C will just be chilling in BG1 for a while.
I have altered his scores as if I finished him from BGI (like my R/C changed his ethos), as I have beat it enough times and frankly don't feel like it a moment. Currently my party has minsc, and jahera. So I am on my way with my woodsy party. Thanks for all the input!
