Cloack of mirroring

Post by Stilgar »

Is it because i have a new PC (and thus higher grafic configurations) or because of ToB that the cloack of mirroring now creates an anyoing bubble around the character instead of a circel around him?
And if it's created by ToB for heavens sake WHY O WHY????
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

It's created by ToB, and yes, it sucks! They really blew it with this one. Someone on this board mentioned that they had edited the item file so that it gives the old image again. You could do a search for the post.

I must agree that the new animation for the cloak of mirroring gets very annoying after a while so here's my suggestion...have no animation displayed for the cloak of mirroring on the character's avatar until right before some type of attack magic is cast upon the character. Then have the globe appear and have some cool animation showing the magic absorbed and dispersed into the globe. Granted it would be harder to code but it would look so much cooler.

Yeah but before the Cloak made that bloody irritating humming sound. Heh, dumped the most powerful item in SoA when I first played, because I couldn't stand the noise. It was only later I read what a Godlike item it was supposed to be.

Damn :)

Yes the new animation sucks, I can't see a thing when the person wearing it gets stuck in.

Check the patch section of my site, there is also a file in the zip to remove the annoying humming sound.

On your site, it says that you have an edited Cloak of Mirroring, but not what you have edited. From the above, I know, but others who visit may not. May I suggest a more detailed desccription?

Did you click on the "Cloak of Mirroring" button on the left? I said at the top that you can go there for more details on the patches.

I don't see why they changed it in the first place. When you cast Spell deflection, it creates the little blue circle under the mage that cast it, so the Cloak of Spell Deflection should do the same (it only makes sense).  Oh well, I guess if you put it on a mage, it saves you the spell slots.
I saved Suldanesellar from destruction, and all I got was this stupid amulet.

The patch just remove sound/animation, depending on which files you use; the cloak will still function as it does in ToB. If you want it to work as it does in SoA, simply delete the file (CLCK26.ITM) in the Override directory.

The Cloak is not the same as either Spell Deflection or Spell Turning. It bounces all damage dealt to you back to the caster (or absorbs it if you have ToB). It works against area damage spells, but not against disabling spells. It does work against some non-damaging insta-kill spells as well (Power Word Kill being an example). Spell Deflection/Turning/Trap do not work against area spells, but will work on stuff like Power Word Stun.
